Season 1's my least favourite as well. I know it was what started SpongeBob in the first place, and it does have a scant few highlights, but I hate it because of animation quality.
Season 2 started out on a great note, much better animation quality, but only half the season got a 10 out of 10 plus for me.
Season 3 is like a typical heads and tails coin. As the nursery rhyme says, when the episodes are good, they are very very good. When they're so so, they're so so. When they're bad, they're mediocre.
But so far, I think Season 4 is my favourite. Don't yell at me for saying this, but I just, all the episodes on it, great. Fab great. There have only been a few twinkles of or unseen episodes, and those I have seen range from 9 out of 10s to 12 out of 10s. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've seen so many 10-12 out of 10s in a single season since Season 7 of The Simpsons. A classic season. Can't get enough.

1's the best. It had tons of good episodes like Help Wanted, The Chaperone (despite being badly overplayed) Sleepy Time and MM&BB 1, to name a few. 2 was pretty good too, the highlight of the season being Band Geeks. But it also had Grandma's Kisses and Squidville. 3 was ok, but Krusty Love and SpongeBob B.C. kinda sucked. Season 4 has been iffy at best, with classics like Krusty Towers, Wishing you well and Dunces and Dragons, but also managing to have pitiful episodes like *cringe* All that Glitters, Ghost Host and *Coughworstepisodeevercough* Karate Island.

My order of favorites:
3: Because it's got the best jokes and are animated just right.
2: Similar to the 3rd series
1: Because they're the 1st ones and although they aren't as gooder quality as the new ones, they are still funny.
4: Just because I put this last isn't because I hate them. I LOVE all the SB episodes, but these ones I don't love quite as much

I gotta say season 3. It has all these classics, including the 2nd fav. Episode, Krusty Krab Training Video.
