Music Stores Or Itunes
« on: July 24, 2006, 11:27:22 pm »
Ever since I was little,it has been a dream of mine to own a CD/VINYL store as a proffesion.Whenever I would go to the mall I never missed going to the music store first, before any other store.I was able to ask the workers what their oppinions where on the CD I was thinking about purchaseing. They where my favorite type of store.Itunes is the thing that is getting rid of them.Around the world local Music stores eveywhere are being closed down, being replaced, all because of Itunes. Now I have an Ipod, and I only use Itunes because I have to,but I sure as heck don't buy from them!I go to the some of the few local music stores still around and buy a cd to switch to my Ipod.I know alot of people think that Itunes is quick, cool and easy. But I see it as an expensive way to get rid of things I love.It is also destroying any chance for my dream job.Mabey I'm the only one who thinks this way.How do you feel?

I agree with you. When you buy a song off of itunes, you are losing something partially because you aren't actually getting a CD you can hold. When you buy a CD at a store, it does symbolize your love for the band, too. Itunes...it just isn't the same!

I don't use iTunes, and I frequent record stores. One in particular, actually. It isn't a chain retailer, such as FYE, Best Buy, or Circuit City. It has the best selection, and carries the most obscure music.

I've always wanted to work in a CD store. I think I'd be good at it, because, although I only like a few rock subgenres (indie, classic, folk, etc.), I know alot about music just from being in the online music community.

iTunes is a rip-off, because only people with iPods can use it. Plus, you don't have the liner notes, cover sheet, and tracklisting sheet and a case. Or, even, a legit CD. Which are all must-haves for me.

I think record stores should lower their prices, so more people we use these stores.

^ 100% agree.  I never use iTunes, but I rarely buy CDs, mostly as gifts.  CDs give more information than the song on iTunes, sometimes lyrics, or a little band history or something.  iTunes is closing down CD stores, which I love, like FYE.

I'll buy from both.

Really, it's just music, I can live without the linear notes and such.

If you buy from iTunes you lose the music when you reformat your computer don't you?  I've never bought from iTunes though.

Back them up.

There's a reason there are backup hard drives, iPods, DVDs, etc.

I use both.

And you can listen to iTunes music off the iPod. Find a converter.

You could also listen on the computer (Even in WinAmp)

It's hard. CD's can be destroyed but mp3s can be lost if you format your computer.

CD's are cooler. It feels better listening to CD's than mp3s...

Me too. That's the only way I get music, except for vinyl.
