Im taking this idea from another topic that I saw on a different forum, but with some changed rules. Basically, you just post what you think are movies that you should see before you die.
There are a couple of rules to this:
1. You have to explain why you picked the movies you did.
2. Try not to post films that a lot of other people already have posted. You can if you want, but just try not to.
3. Theres a maximum of 10 films per post. You can post more later if you want.
4. You can not post a series as one film, and you can not put more then one movie from a series in your list. That means that you have to pick which one you think is best.
5. You have to have actually seen the film to post it.
So, i'll start:
1. Edward Scissorhands
This is just an amazing film. It has a great score, great performances, and a great story. The ending is one of the saddest that i've ever seen. On top of that, it was the first film for Johnny Depp, who is one of the best actors around right now in my opinion.
2. Star Wars
I could probably just put "Because it's Star Wars" as my reason, but i'll still put why I think it should be on the list. First off, its an overall great film with a great story. Secondly, the special effects were groundbreaking for the time.
3. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
It was the first film for Peter Jackson, and it was based on one of the most famous book series of all time. It was an extremely well made film, with excellent acting, great special effects, and, on top of all that, they made the whole thing look exactly like Middle Earth. It is an amazing film in almost every way.
4. The Nightmare Before Christmas
Its a really great movie, and it was really dark for an animation. It also featured an innovative way of animation, that is still not attempted in most films. Plus, its Tim Burton, and that should be enough to get it on the list.
5. Serenity
This was simply a great film, and it was made even more amazing by the fact that it was based on a cancelled TV series that only had about 14 episodes. Plus, what other film can say that it beat Star Wars to become "The Greatest Science Fiction Film of All Time"?
6. Finding Nemo
One of the best animated films that I have ever seen, and possibly Pixars greatest work. It beat out the Lion King for top grossing animated film, too.
7. Marry Poppins
Its special effects were great at the time, and it was an all around great movie. Plus, it was Julia Roberts' breakout role.
8. Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail.
This is possibly the most quotable movie of all time, and it is still one of the funniest, in my opinion.
9. Beauty and the Beast
It's a really great movie, and its the only animated film to win the oscar for best picture, if I remember correctly.
10. Spirited Away
Its not Miyazaki's best work (although its near the top), but it was the first one to recieve mainstream recognition. It was also the first (and so far only) anime to win the oscar for best picture.
