We're Ashamed of Jokes?
« on: April 23, 2005, 09:49:43 pm »
We were having a discussion in school, that most of the things we joke about we are ashamed of because it has happend to us. Saying something like, "I bet he's lying about his uncle being Micheal Jordan." Really means that we're ashamed of a huge lie similar to it that we have told. Saying that, " Ohhh. She likes Micheal!" Kinda means you do. Do you get it? And if you do.. Do you agree?

I think jokes can be taken too far if you really dig for the truth in them. Jokes aren't really meant to be hurtful but if you take it too far at a person who's down on life then you should pay a price for that.

You just have to take jokes as humorous, even the degrading ones. Then all of you would be fine.

No. If someone said a degrading joke to me, I would punch them where it hurts

It depends on the what the degrading joke is. If it's about me personally and about my misfortunes...then I would kick him in where the world can't see.

Sometimes I like to laugh at my mistakes, but not my misfortunes.

If its a degrading joke about me, I normally crack up. Honestly either they are so pathetic its hard not to, or they are just hilarious. If they are about someone else, then I dont find them funny at all. I dont like it when other people take cheap shots at other people, especially if they are over sensitive.

If somebody says a joke about me I will usually say "Your so bored you have to make a joke about me? You must have a lot of free time."

Well, to me jokes are just making us feel good about something we did that we're embarassed about.
