Title: ::Dolphin Noise:: ::Dolphin Noise::
Post by: Jackie-Boy on October 04, 2005, 03:10:10 am
I don't see the purpose of some words being considered "innapropriate". Not here at USB, but in daily life. Why is it that we can get in trouble for saying "sh*t", but not "crap"? By the way, when it comes to cursing, adults are the biggest hypocrites in the world.

I can understand why we're not allowed to use racial slurs (even though, sadly, some of us do even when we don't mean them).

Also, "hell" used a certain way is considered derogatory, and that I get. Also, the GD bomb is something I drop often, but I'm trying to stop.

The others are stupid though.

To tell you the truth I have no idea, swear words have certain severities apparently. Thats why you can say "crap" but not "sh*t" without getting in trouble, why one is worse than the other I don't know.

I don't really mind when people curse, but I rarley do anyway, I just don't see what the point is, I say "d*mn" occasionally when I'm angry, and thats as bad as I get.

I've never understood the reasoning behind these so called "bad words."  Really, none of these words have any meaning besides what you give them.  Most of them weren't even placed in dictionaries until recent years.  Some dictionaries STILL don't print them.

Basically, cuss words are just words that were made up for use in place of another word, and for some reason, they all became "profane."

Cussing makes you sound uneducated really. It's ok to slip out every once in awhile but if you do it too much it makes you look retarded.

I don't really care if I sound uneducated.  I know I am educated, and what other people think doesn't matter to me. :P

I cuss quite a bit, as most of you who talk to me know.

"crap" is not bad at all.
adults don't want kids to start cussing like they did back when they were teenagers.
you can use "hell" only if you're saying the actualy place of hell.

I don't cuss very often, only when I'm extremely mad, or in pain. I use the word "pi*sed" though, I don't see anything wrong with that one. I hate it when people cuss every five seconds. That's the only thing that annoys me about cussing.

Swearing happens. Do it appropriately if you must.
I swear when I die for the 10th time on the same spot in Mario Bros.
I swear when I have 1 ton of wood w/ trailer dropped on my foot.

I think that constant swearing gets rid of it's effectiveness. When I swear around my friends, they know I'm ticked off. People that constantly swear, as already mentioned, are quite funny for this reason.

5 Rules for swearing:
1. Don't use the Lord's name in vain.
2. Swear around people that could care less. Not your fiance's dad.
3. Don't do it constantly.
4. Swear online for effectiveness. Like when someone tells you that you're dumb. Attack back with 'Well atleast I don't sound like a ::DOLPHIN NOISE:: ::DOLPHIN NOISE:: ::DOLPHIN NOISE::.
5. Swear when you mean it. Not cause you dropped a straw at McDonalds. Ohh ::DOLPHIN NOISE::....who cares!?! Grab another straw, ::DOLPHIN NOISE::!

wat i dont get is wat makes a bad word a "bad" word, i mean you see it and hear everyday whether or not u want to or not
i think to make a "bad" word a "bad" word is if it has an extreme meaning that is totally harmless
as for me...... i cuss all the time where ever i am or who im in front of....and even though im christian i do take the Lord's name in vain
but mind you, i cuss with out even knowing it......i do it so much i dont even catch myself when i do it............i hear it everyday and nobody really seems bothered when i do it.........i guess its natural for them too
so wats the point in protecting your kids from it, because eventually they too will hear it and probably use it too
so lets forget "bad" words, because no word is "bad", it just there too make things sound more.......harsh
there im done

I don't say GD either.  As far as the N bomb goes, I never call anyone that.  Only time I even say it is when I'm singing a song that has it in it, or when I'm quoting something that used it in a non-derogatory sense.

I don't see why swear words are so profane anyway. It's just a word. I swear so much I don't even notice, and I don't see it as a problem. Yeah, it gets annoying once in a while, but I still do it. I've cut back since sixth grade (haha, yeah). I dropped Effbombs after every word that it sounded right saying with after I said it. Eh, I still drop bombs (cussbombs, that is) all the time. It isn't really a big deal to me. Like I said earlier, they're just words. Now if you direct them towards someone offensively, yeah, I can see a problem, but if you, say, stubbed your toe and said "D*mn!" right afterwords it isn't a big deal at all. When I'm in pain I swear like there's no tomorrow. I completely disregard the word "ouch" and "ow" now.

Edit: Oh, and what is a "GD" bomb? And yeah, I never call ANYONE the N word. It's way too derogatory. I just don't get why some black people get offended if you call them black. Do we get offended when we're called White? Didn't think so. And is Michigan the only state that people say "gay" and it doesn't mean "homosexual". Ever other state I've been too takes the word gay VERY seriously but Michigan.

One form of language I can't stand is the 'chav language'.
Almost every word they say involves violence, drugs, 'bling bling' or other adult things.
They also swear alot, even at elderly people.
But on the subject of swearing in general, mild curses are fine like 'darn it' and 'hell'....but using strong language such as the f word or b word is not necassary.

I say GD more than any other curse...such as the b words and f words...but I replace 'god' with 'Kai' or 'Aku'...it seems less offensive to people, but they seem to take it as a joke, when infact Im taking the curse seriously.
Some people don't understand the different region curses and stuff.

I just recently learned of the chav culture in the UK There is even a website. I think they are a funny group. Its the equivalent of Wiggers here in the States. Its just as bad here. The bing, the shoes, the horrible music...It's still funny to see/watch. Its genius in its own right...because thy are dead serious about the life style...

He's 10 (?) years old. He shouldn't even be talking like that until he's in junior high or high school. That's where it all starts...or should start. I have a cousin...now ex...that said curse words and my brother and I were not happy at all. He was 11 or 12.

My neighbor was cussing and flicking people off when he was 10. He flicked off everyone, and dropped the f bomb whenever he felt like it. However I learned he had no friends, proves people don't like people like that. And I hate the N Word, when I have kids and if they even say it once, they'll receive a spakning for it, because I HATE Racism.

So. It's racist for a white guy to say it, but not for a black guy. It is racist, yes, but it is technically(or at least down here) a term for black trash. White trash are called "Crackers." So, it's, buy the logic at hand, racist for a black person to call a white person a cracker.

'Chavs' are funny when they don't bother you....it's when they hang out infront of your house, shouting and screaming with their kids or little brothers and sisters, drop litter in your front yard and park their cars on your sidewalk infront of your driveway.
Their language is irritating, in their text message form of spelling and how they write in general is appauling...it is a good view of how bad their brain is...most of the time it cannot function due to drug abuse and smoking...all they can say is 'ugh' or 'wha'.
I cannot stand it, they swear alot too....most of the time it is racist comments (occassionally)on white people....then when you have the regular UK chavs, they're being racist (occassionally also) to black people.
I know this is a topic about swearing, but please don't bypass filters.

Wow, so its almost like a bug you cant kill or something. That sucks... If they are rascist...it doesnt make sense.. If they hate blacks so much they should stop trying so hard to be one. If they hate whites they hate themselves...I've only seen a few black Chavs. I could be wrong...

This website is funny...

ChavScum (http://www.chavscum.co.uk/)

*This isnt a very "nice" webstie for most here to view, but funny nonetheless...
