Title: NFL season has started.
Post by: Roger on September 08, 2005, 06:02:59 pm
The Patriots and Raiders are about to kick off the season on ABC.

Am I the only one who doesn't see the Patriots repeating?  Maybe another team will step up this year.  At least I hope so.

As for my beloved Packers, blah.  I have a feeling they'll be terrible.

Alex's Vikings are going to be el terrible as well.

Eh, they probably will repeat, but the Eagles and Colts should prove to be a match for them.

Bah.  Don't post in this topic if you're gonna be a party pooper.

The Raiders aren't looking bad at all.

Yep.  Uh huh.  We only have every expert predicting us to win the North, a few predicting us to be in the Super Bowl, and the Packers are only predicted by many to suffer a let down this year.  Yep.

10-7 in the Patriots game... I wish the reception on my TV was good enough to see what the time left in the quarter was...

Edit: Wait... I should read the whole thing before replying, shouldn't I?  Yes, you're right, the Pack will be terrible...

Teeeheee.  Vikings in the Super Bowl.  Haha.  I laugh at the very thought.

I say this as I watch Kerry Collins get smothered by the Patriots defense.

13:00 Left in the second quarter.

Go Dolphins. Maybe we will win more than 2 games this year. Quite frankly I will be satisfied if anyone but New England wins.

Ooh... Moss TD.

And you know... Vikings in the Super Bowl, if you'll admit it or not, is a very feasible possibility.  Even though a sack of potatoes might be better coaching us, we have improved the defense this offseason, our receiving nucleus (believe it or not) could be just as good as last year's, and Daunte looked brilliant in the preseason (granted, it is only the preseason, but still...).  And besides, the NFC is still weak, and if we could make it to the Divisional Round last year, we can definitely make it to the Super Bowl this year...

Edit: Oh, and a warning to all who don't know a thing about football, don't post in this thread.  Please.

I'm still rooting for Patriots this year. I want a 3-peat. Although, I would like to see my Cowboys do a little better this year...it'll never happen, though.

I'm going for Eagles, hopefully they can make it to the Super Bowl again. If not, then Falcons.

Falcons will win it.

Vick must stay healthy all season.

Falcons won't for one reason:

Michael Vick.  He can't pass.  If he played running back, then they'd have a chance.

Dude, he has an arm. Get him a WR. Any QB who can pass on the run can do amazing things. You gotta be ready for pass when out of pocket and running and be ready for the speed. That confused the hell out of a defense. Falcons can do it.

Michael Vick has the lowest completion percentage of all QBs.  It's not because he doesn't have receivers.  He has an arm, but he's inaccurate.

He doesn't have any recievers. And Warrick Dunn is a great RB. I am still sticking with the Falcons.

... Or the Lions. ;)

Alright, buggers.  The first Sunday of the season... thank God.  Been too long of a wait, man... I still have some homework to do, but screw that, I would say that football's more important, baby!  Or maybe not, but still...

Heck, let's do some predictions...

Bills over Texans
Bears over Redskins (think the Bears might actually surprise a few this year)
Bengals over Browns
Panthers over Saints (it will be close, though)
Jaguars over Seahawks
Chiefs over Jets
Broncos over Dolphins
Vikings over Bucs (of course)
Steelers over Titans
Rams over 49ers
Packers over Lions
Giants over Cardinals
Chargers over Cowboys
Ravens over Colts
Eagles over Falcons

I am 1-0 so far in this season, which of course means I'm on my way to a perfect season prognosticating wise.  We'll see how things turn out today...

The Houston Texans suck. I'll just say that. I'm really going for the Patriots this year. And the Buccaneers. :)

Riiiight.

Ack.  7-7 game now.  But our defense... actually looks... somewhat competent?  What?  Aside from that drive, our defense has looked surprisingly good.  Hopefully we will continue to play well throughout this game.  Culpepper hasn't looked very good, though.  1 INT and 1 fumble.  Of course, this has only been one quarter, but I am a little worried...

Edit: CULPEPPER!  WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?!

Edit #2: Shoot me.  Someone, please... shoot me.

You got lucky.  Daunte just had to completely blow today, the O Line just had to blow even more, and the refs just had to screw us out of two TDs, one of which was an insanely idiotic call.  If we get one of those TDs, then the game would have been different...

(shakes head)

Ha. I knew the vikings would lose.  Alex, face it, your team is as bad as mine.

I did like some of what the Bengals did today.  My second favorite team might actually be good this year.  :)

Dolphins won. I think it was pretty funny.
