Site News / Happy Birthday SpongeZone!

For the second year in a row, I forgot about SpongeZone's birthday.  Three years ago yesterday, I laid the first brick of the madhouse that is now United SpongeBob.  The site went from being a page with some horribly designed graphics and a bit of text to what is easily the largest and most popular SpongeBob fansite on the planet.  I know that I am less involved in the site now than I was in it's quiet days, but I am nowhere near ready to call it quits.  Expect great things in this fourth year...

Site News / New Topic about the New Poll about New Episodes

Yes it's true (this time), commercials on Nickelodeon state that new episodes of SpongeBob will air every Friday at 8:30 PM starting on May 6th.  After years of stretching out Season 3 to accommodate for the SpongeBob movie, Season 4 is finally good to go.  I just hope that they made the right choice by bringing back SpongeBob...

Thanks to ideas I shamelessly stole from Squiddy and [H]ardOCP, we're starting a new regular feature called Threads of the Week.  Every Sunday, we'll make a news topic that lists some interesting occurances in the United SpongeBob Forums.

• Chongster shows off his latest artwork, "SpongeBob in the Matrix."
• Ss4gogita4 has been chronicling the Nielsen Ratings for SpongeBob for almost a year.  There are some nifty trends in the data.
• There's a discussion about the deleted scene from the SpongeBob Movie that ended up on the DVD.
• It's not all SpongeBob.  A few members yearn for the good old days of Nick

Site News / Time, None, Bye

I've been pulling 15 hour days of school this week, leaving little to no time to use my computer in any way.  I have a few minutes right now, so here's a quick update on...everything.

The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie was released a few days ago.

The episode guide is still nowhere near complete, but I'll work on it more as soon as I have free time.

SpongeBob ranked #28 in a list of the top 100 cartoons ever in the UK.

The basic framework is in place for Season One.  We might be cooperating with Rainer of the SpongeBob Wiki with the plot summaries or transcripts for each episode.  More details on that later.

Episode Guide!!!  We're finally adding the one main thing this site has been missing for the past few years, a SpongeBob Episode Guide.  There will be information and dozens of pictures for each SpongeBob episode.  It's ambitious, and probably idiotic, but it will be cool.

Site News / Handheld Games = Done

The Handheld Games page is finally done.  I also added news of future SpongeBob games to each Video Games page.  THQ is releasing a multiplayer minigame compilation (sort of like Mario Party) for PC, Xbox, PlayStation 2, GameCube, GBA, DS, and PSP this fall... every major gaming system.  I suppose there will be some insane SpongeBob fan out there who will buy the all seven versions of the game.  Anyway, the storyline is that you play a character from the show, auditioning for a part on The Adventures of Mermaidman and Barnacleboy.  Hilarity ensues.

You can preorder the SpongeBob Movie DVD at Amazon for 35% off of the retail price.  It will be released on March 1st, but it might be smart to preorder it early.
