It's about $130 for panther, but you can get Jaguer for about $80. And memory is very cheap right now anyway so I'd atleast recomend upgrading memory. MAc OS X runs better with more memory. And it use's every kilobyte.

MEEP Has a 6 year old iMac and a lot newer hp Compaq.

Um, my iMac is 4 years old. It's been trouble since the day I got it. It's always quiting programs when I'm in the middle of doing something. It freezes a lot when you tell it to do something and you have to restart it. One of my friends was using a recent Mac and couldn't get it to work. 1 hour later he found out he just had to restart it. The computer didn't say anything about it. In his own words, "I went in that house liking Mac and left hating them."

Update to Mac OS X if you have the money it's well worth it, and also update your memory before switching to Mac OS X. It needs a mininum of 128MB and it works much better with 256mb.

Read it.  I don't even need to comment on that.

1.  Don't say something like "MACS R00L YOU!" OR "PC ARE TEH KING".  That just makes you ignorant.
2.  There is a huge difference between a fast PC and a slow PC when you are using it for stuff other than solitaire and web browsing.  When you are playing games, compiling, encoding, doing graphics work, drafting, rendering, etc, there is a noticable difference between your average Dell and a custom built workstation or gaming rig.
3.  Right now, I consider a fast PC to be an Althon XP at 2.0 ghz or more, any Athlon 64, a Pentium 4 at 2.4 ghz or more, with 512mb or more of pc2700 or faster, and at least an fx5200 or a radeon 9200.  That would be the bottom of "fast computers" for me, and it happens to be the minimum recommended specs to run FarCry.

Here's another rule don't compare you brand new PC to your 6 yearold Mac no duh it's fasterm, it's new.

U-Pick live is garbage I doubt it's even live. I watched it once and Pickboy said ::Dolphin Noise::, but anthor time I watched it and it apeared to not be live. It was one where they give away some useless toe or something stupid like that, and the kid apears happy about it. But you can tell by his face he's not happy.

Mac's are better for video editing and graphic's work. Did you know that even most P.C. Magizines are published on Mac's because they are supier to a P.C, for graphic's works. And Bill Gate's said the iMovie is brillant. And here's a list of firsts:
1. First consumer level GUI
2. First consumer level 3.5 floppy drive
3. First consuner computer with a mouse standard.
4. First speach technoledgy
5. plug and play
6. first animation techledgy
7. first color matching screen, scanner,  printer
8. first sound input

12. first ture unix based consummer OS, (sorry people but the average user won't use Linux)

PCs:
-Give me nightmares.

Macs:
-Nothing rivals it's superiority.
-I've used Macs for 8 years.  Not once has it "crashed."
-No system pop-ups.
-The fastest internet browser out there.
-Movie editing and DVD burning apps bundled in.
-Mac OS X has been acclaimed as the safest OS in the world.
-Mac users never give viruses a thought. They don't bother us.
-All of Apple's computers are so much better than any Dell or HP crap.
-If it weren't for the Macintosh, there wouldn't be any "Windows."  Microsoft got all its GUI (Graphical User Interface) ideas from Apple.
-Anyone who is not using a Mac is seriously missing out.

Pentuims Need faster clock speeds then G4's, because a P4 has more steps in a clock cycle then a G4. So the computers would be about the same speed. :biggrin:

It's just a minority use Macs!

If Mac was more popular you wouldn't of said that!

Um, why do you think Macs aren't popular? Maybe it's because there are superior computers out there....like every other computer on the market today.

Macs are of higher quality, take an old Mac Plus 19 years old, but they will still run. And are mush easier too use then a P.C. of that time. Macs are far supier all Macs made from 1997 are of high qualiy, becouse one company makes them. I had a freind who had this cheap, clone P.C. that would crash every 5 minutes, it would ether crash or overheat. We would try to play games on it and the computer would crash. Some games will crash on any platform, for examble the Sims Superstar crashes almost every time I try to play it. On P.C.'s it crashes all the time too. ANd you got to remember Window's 98 & ME crash every 5 minutes. P.C.'s can also be real slow, the cheap P.C.'s from 1997 are so slow they take 30 seconds to load Word! And they only run Window's 98. Even Bill Gates admits P.C.'s aren't good for every thing. He once said the Mac's bundled video editing software is brillant, even Bill Gates thinks so.
