Title: Hurricane Rita
Post by: SS4Gohan on September 21, 2005, 07:49:28 pm
Category 5, 165 mph..

And I'm gonna get hit dang it.

Oh well. It's kinda weird, I'm in Texas, the tornado zone, and have never been in a tornado (only half of one...) and I'm gonna be hit by a hurricane? Sounds kinda funny.. yeah everyone in Houston's already evacuating, kinda sad since the refugees there hafta move again. Anyways we're not evacuating where I live, 'cause we're probably not gonna get hit hard, we'll just have lots of heavy rain and 65 mph winds at the most. But still, its kinda scary.

NASA's evacuating too.. Houston hasn't had a hurricane since 50 - 60 years ago.

Also, if Houston gets destroyed, gas prices are gonna shoot even higher.. if that's possible.

So school is now officially closed tomorrow, instead of us leaving at 12 noon. Kristi's leaving to San Antonio after all, tomorrow morning. I might be going to Bastrop,Texas, if  not San Antonio too. It's going to get really bad.

Good to hear she's getting out.  You need to get out, too.

Like IceFox said, please, as soon as you can, let us know that you're okay.

I'm really worried about what's going to happen.  I pray that the Kristi, K-rizzle, and their families will all be okay.

Post by: Atticus Finch on September 21, 2005, 09:32:18 pm
I'll keep you guys updated as much as I can. I'm not sure Kristi will be getting online tonight, so I'll try for her. It's strange though, when I posted that earlier, I was honestly hardly scared at all, but now I'm terrified. My dad already started boarding up the windows and everything. I don't think either of us are going to be able to leave. Highways are stalled because for some reason they're closing some of the exits. Gas stations are packed, so there's no telling how much gas will be available. We went to town about an hour ago, and there were people in parking lots eating on their tailgates. I just hope those people make it somewhere safely.

Thanks a lot again you guys.

To anyone else from Texas, be careful out there. You're all in my prayers as well.

Title: Hurricane Rita
Post by: Atticus Finch on September 21, 2005, 09:35:43 pm
I'm pretty sure we're not. :( Either of us. The highways are too packed. Hotels booked, we wouldn't have anywhere to stay. It's said that from Houston to Navasota it's turned to like a 13 hour trip, because of all the road closings. It's crazy.

I've worried myself sick already, literally. God, they're predicting 100 miles of wind speed for us and College Station. Waco was off the radar map, I couldn't tell what it was for that, but I'm almost absolutely sure it's going to be close to 100mph also.

we have 3 big windows in our place and with 120 mile n hour winds or faster they will shatter we're gonna put covers on the furniture and tape on the windows so they won't break into a thousand pieces but into like maybe 4 pieces I don't know we're gonna camp out in our bathroom with no power, no running water, no air conditioning it kills me that we have the 3rd largest hurricane headed straight 4 us this one is more powerful that katrina so we'll get an uglier version of katrina without the flooding it will go on for 12 straight hours i've heard so :(( i'm gonna pray every night from now on until the damage is done    :surrender:  :stretcher:  :shy:  :rip:  :mummy:

This morning it shifted to the east, and I got my hopes up. But of course, it's going back to its original path. Thanks a lot you guys, and I too wish we could get out of here. But I didn't want to leave half of my family either. You know what? If we'd left to go to San Antonio last night, or any time today, we would've had to go back... they closed the roads going into that city. Kris wouldn't have been able to get to Bastrop either. It's crazy, I feel so bad for those people that are just trying to find any safe place to be. They're running out of time. People are running out of gas on the highways, and their cars are overheating. It was said it went down to a category 4, but either way, we'd still get the same wind speed.

It shifted! Thank God! Now instead of it going right through Waco, we're only getting the edge of it. We'll still have pretty heavy rain and strong winds, but not as much as we thought. The apartments are packed with people from Houston, and a lot of people I know are letting people stay in their house. H-E-B, a grocery chain (only in Texas), is like pretty much all empty, and Wal-Mart has no water or bread.

Also, it's gone down to category 4 now, yay! It's supposed to be a category 1 once it gets to us.

Timo is lucky if his college lets out for hurricanes.  There can be tornado warnings and my university still has class. I'm serious too, they do it!

my house just gets floods in our ditch and it's fun to go in there when it rains!
the thing that my parents are trying to figure out is that if if does rain really hard then I will have to stay home and sleep all day but if it doesn't rain that bad then I will have to go my dads house and go in the ditch and jump on the trampoline yeh fun yeh
I just hope everyone doesn't die and that their homes will be in one peice when they go home one day or at least their city
since galeston is barely above sea level that island will be complety be under water!
poor galeston

It shifted!

@ Tim - I'm not stalking you.. I've lived in Waco all my life.. and is it Baylor you're going to? 'Cause my dad works there, and they get off tomorrow.. lucky, our school doesn't.

Yea, I know. But hopefully it won't shift again. =( It has a bad habit of doing so anyway.

This is what I think of hurricane wind speeds and categories, they are all the same! A 75 mph wind speed is bad enough, but 165! They say "It's only a category 1 hurricane." But it's like 75 - 100 mph! I'm sorry, but that's what I think. Whoever is in it's way, keep safe guys. I hope you'll be ok.

there is nooooooooo way anyone can even try to get out now if we tried now we'd be in the huricane in our car so its safer to be here and try to wade it out in our house than try to wade it out in our car the glass would  break the car might tip over god only knows what would happen so at the moment you'd be out of ur mind if you tried to leave
it will hit somtime tonight around 3am or so i'm not sure when but me, my 2 cats my guniea pig and my aunt will be here in this computer room hidden from any big windows or debris so like i said before thanks and plz pray for us i love yall too :) me, kristi and timo will be ok (i hope)

You know what I find weird.

Usually Hurricanes go through Florida, then go north (giving me rain), but this year a couple Hurricanes went through Florida, but it went west to the Gulf Coast instead, affecting Lousiana & Texas (we need rain in Jersey bad, darn the pattern).

We need rain in Cincinnati too, if it wern't for Katrina giving us 4 inches of rain, everything in Cincinnati would be dead right now. Some parts of my yard where the sun hits the most are dead.

According to the Farmer's Alamac, this will be the last major hurricane for the Gulf Coast this year.  However, Florida has low chance for a hurricane around the late-September and early-October and that's it for this year.

Well they did predict Hurricane Dennis hitting Florida coming in mid-July, Hurricane Katrina hitting the gulf in late-August, and Rita hitting the gulf in September.  The Farmer's Almanac is pretty much on target on their weather predictions.

Is it just me?  I really, really, REALLY don't care about hurricane Katrina or hurricane Rita.  I don't care.  I been hearin about it a billion years it seems like it's all they're talkin about hurricane hurricane boreicane erica kane cocain...tis driving me NUTS!  I don't live there, I don't care about it.  At all.  I got my own life to worry about.  I don't live there, I don't care.  I can't help it.  It's an act of God.  On 9/11, I cared.  That was Islam.  This is nature.  I'm sure the majority of American s feel the same way as I do.

If you don't care, then you are heartless.  You honestly don't care that thousands of people died?  Wow.

Hmm.  I can see you care about noone but yourself.  You're more worried about how much you're going to get taxed than you are the fact that people died.  Some human being you are.

Next time you say you're a Christian, I'll remember this.

You're the cause of everything.

Have a nice day! ^_^

I blame this on the guy who built N.O. 20 feet below sea level.
