Oh no!! Geek speak!! I know very little of what that means. Are you saying you have a 100 GB hard drive? That huge!! My iMac has like a 6.44 GB hard drive.

youre wrong. Mac has the best video editing there is. my dads Mac is a SUPER TRICKED OUT G5 with nearly 10,000 dollars on its name.

No. He's right. Macs are really, REALLY bad.

With a G5 you can order a clear panel, slide off the stanard and put in the clear panel and you gat a clear veiw without having to make a hole in the case. ANd you can add lights and other stuff to it to if you want. ANd the 3rd fastest super compueter in the world was build out of G5s. :tongue:

Prob with my computer is that ive got the wrong ram i have pc2100 instead of pc3200 and when i get that finally I can overclock it to 3 gigs but right now 1.6gigs

The G5 with 2GHZ has 2 processesrs so 2+2=4. Besides the fastest 64bits are oly 2ghz. The G5 is faster then any pentium 4, with 3.5GHZ, Intel overclocks there computers so they seem faster, but their porcsesser is also less efecent.

Actually, the AMD opteron is like in the 3s. Even though they market it as a 2.4, its faster than the Intel 3.5
My dad used to have 2 processors in his comp. Dual 1800s.

A G5 is faster then a Pentium 4 3.5, because a G5 is a 64bit processer and a Pentuim 4 is a 32bit processer. A Pentuim with 2.4GHZ would have a hard time beating an iMac. With 1.25GHZ. A 32bit processer has less a smaller data path.

First off, if you read my post thoroughly. I never said Pentium were the fastest. AMDs are. And the AMD Opteron is a 64 bit.

I'll make a better post on this when I'm not so tired, but the speed in gigahertz doesn't equal the performance. Thats why an FX or Athlon 64 at 2.0 ghz or a G5 at 2.0 ghz can outperform a Pentium 4 at 3 ghz.

I added some blue LEDs to my window today. I tried doing it while my computer was on, but one of the wires touched the case. It shot off a few sparks and the computer shut off. So, I wired it while it was off and turned it back on. It works now :wink:

I have two computers. One is a pentium 166mmx, so its a little... crappy. I'm about to build a third computer though. I have the motherboard, ram, power supply, etc. I just need to buy a CPU for it.

Um, why do you think Macs aren't popular? Maybe it's because there are superior computers out there....like every other computer on the market today.

No, Macs are good, they are just hugely overpriced because they are made by only one company. That company does make sure that each product that it makes is excellent though, unlike most Windows PC manufacturers. The best solution is still to build your own computer and put Windows or a Linux distro on it, depending on what the computer will be used for.

Um, why do you think Macs aren't popular? Maybe it's because there are superior computers out there....like every other computer on the market today.
Macs are of higher quality, take an old Mac Plus 19 years old, but they will still run. And are mush easier too use then a P.C. of that time. Macs are far supier all Macs made from 1997 are of high qualiy, becouse one company makes them. I had a freind who had this cheap, clone P.C. that would crash every 5 minutes, it would ether crash or overheat. We would try to play games on it and the computer would crash. Some games will crash on any platform, for examble the Sims Superstar crashes almost every time I try to play it. On P.C.'s it crashes all the time too. ANd you got to remember Window's 98 & ME crash every 5 minutes. P.C.'s can also be real slow, the cheap P.C.'s from 1997 are so slow they take 30 seconds to load Word! And they only run Window's 98. Even Bill Gates admits P.C.'s aren't good for every thing. He once said the Mac's bundled video editing software is brillant, even Bill Gates thinks so.

Pentuims Need faster clock speeds then G4's, because a P4 has more steps in a clock cycle then a G4. So the computers would be about the same speed. :biggrin:

Unless you're looking for nostalgia, a 17 year old Mac or PC is a very large paper wieght. As far as reliability, that is partially true. Microsoft cannot control who builds or sells Windows PCs. It's all caveat emptor. "Buyer Beware" If they person doesnt build it themselves, or buy it from a reputable manufacturer, of course there will be problems. As far as the Mac vs. PC again, Windows PCs have a better price/performance ratio.
