It depends on the topic... if I'm posting a news article, I'm just going to post it, wait for someone to give their $.02, and then rebutt their argument.

I don't like to argue! You're wrong!
Since i dont know if there is a word for this, im inventing it. but, do you feel that when someone posts up a link to a piece of information on a forum, should hte author of that post express some kind of view on what he/she is posting, or is it ok for them to act like they are submitting a headline to fark.com?

Timo and IceFox are the only ones that really do that... not that it's a problem. Timo is worst with it though... with just posting a link and no real opinion.

There is nothing wrong with just posting a link. Usually I like to see others opinions before I give my own.

http://www.unitedspongebob.com/forums/inde...showtopic=15202 (http://www.unitedspongebob.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15202)
what are we supposed to debate there? the originality of the simpsons? the validity of christianity? the seriousnous of hte crime?

That is a debateable subject. It is a serious issue to some people, thus belongs here.
Seriousness of the crime mainly is the debate.

ok, well, why didnt you make that more clear? i took one look and thought, wtf? it looked like news, not something to argue about.
That makes my point though, if you had bothered to say something "serious" as you put it, instead of some nonsense about hte simpsons, maybe there would have been something to debate about.
