Kerry tells lies, but bush doesnt? What planet are you from? Its politics people, no one keeps all their promises and everyone does mudslinging.

Anyway, I didnt register to vote yet, but I lean more towards democrats than repulblicans. I'm actually independent. I dont agree with everything that democrats believe. I'm not for abortion or gay marrage (a waste), but I wasnt born with a silver spoon in my mouth either. I never cared for big business. I believe americans should keep jobs in america, not mexicians coming over here illegally to work. They get a license to drive and cant speak or read english. Even though I agreed with what schwarzenegger did about not handing out licenses like a busspass. Not only that, bush's "no child left behind program" states that children cannot be held back until the've reched the 3rd grade. My little cousin is going into third this year. She can read and write just fine, but other kids in her class can hardly read or, even spell their own last name. Is this bush's falt? No, not really, but let me put it this way: If a kid in third grade cant read or spell they've got 9 long fustrating years ahead of them. I dont like the fact that Bush will lower gas prices for one month just to get votes. I dont believe in this "war" (its really a confrontation) either.

As for kerry, he may have been a vet in Nam with 3 purple hears, but when he got home he burned them. Last march I saw him campaign at a school in California. I didnt care for him and what he was saying. Seems like hes trying to get that hippie revolt like they had in the 60's.

As for the convention? I enjoyed it! Women are talking and having their say FINALLY!!! Not only that, it wasnt just white people in suits. It was people of all races, colors and religions. Thaats what america is. Not just the white man.

This does sound messy, I know, but I'm independent.

In my opinion, that is the worst thing you can do. I have a friend just like that. You should have your own opinions, and not just listen to what your parents say. My parents are republicans (more so my mom) and did I have to become a republican also? No. You should have your own thoughts and opinions on things, and a parent shouldn't shove their views down your throat.

I like Nader's pro-consumer, anti-corperation campaign.  But, it's too bad that he might get Bush elected again.  The Democrats and the Republicans are very similar except for a few key points, such as abortion and same-sex marriages.  If I could vote, I would vote for Kerry.  Bush has messed up the country enough in 4 years, I don't want to see what he's capable of with 8.

He'll be out of office by next February.  If by some strange coincidence, Bush actually does get re-elected, his presidency would end in 2008 anyway.  No president can be elected for more than two terms.

Anyway, while we brought freedom from the Taliban to Afghanistan, most of people in the country are still living under the same  oppressive warlords they always have been.  Freedom... yeah.  As for Iraq, Saddam may have been a dictator who gassed his own citizens, but he kept the country under control.  The new Iraqi government has no control.  If we left the country right now, there would be a massive power vacuum.

Honestly, does anyone think that Iraq is going to keep their new government? No. No one in that part of the world is introduced to democracy. It's just not the way they operate. Some power-hungry dictator will come back into power again, and then I'm sure someone will have to go back and restore peace. It just won't last.

Why should you go for Kerry:
1. Bush framed Martha Stwert
2. Bush framed Kobe Bryant.
3. He IS a dictator.
4. Thank to him, many browned skined people living in the U.S.A are in danger.
5. He really hates the Muslims (RACIST!)

Lies?? Dont you realise that the goverment goes into small towns and recruits young black males into going to iraq under the impression that the army will pay for college, but you have to be trained to kill first? Same thing happened in NAM.  Bush is rascist. He wouldnt speak at the NACCP. And is very rude to black journalists. Hes arrogant and stupid. He cant talk unless he's got a prepared speach that someone else wrote. For someone who takes an intrest in goverment and the iraqi war you sure are blind.

No, but SSS is blind. He obviously doesnt watch TV or keep up with the election. Everything is a known fact... God forbid we go against our president. C'mon a genocide? Get real kid. Bush isnt Hitler and wouldnt do something so stupid. You kill off a minority group and you're out of office period. You cant get away with that in America and too many people would be against it. Its a democracy not a dictatorship. Wont happen, but its nice to throw around big words. There are areas right here in the US that are literally "out of date". Bush is for the white american male. Thats how republicans are. They dont want women leaders either.

Bush seeks support from Urban League
President outlines push to nurture minority businesses

The Associated Press
Updated: 2:07 p.m. ET July 23, 2004
DETROIT - President Bush tried to sow doubts among black voters Friday about their longtime alignment with Democrats as he sought to win over a group that overwhelmingly opposes him.
advertisement
“Does the Democrat Party take African-American voters for granted? It’s a fair question,” Bush told the Urban League’s annual convention. “I know plenty of politicians assume they have your vote. But did they earn it, and do they deserve it?”
Bush drew applause each time he ticked off one of his questions to the group: “Is it a good thing for the African-American community to be represented mainly by one political party?”
“Have the traditional solutions of the Democrat Party truly served the African-American people?”
“There is an alternative this year,” Bush said. “Take a look at my agenda.”
Bush announced an unusual partnership with a special-interest group to nurture minority businesses. The link to the Urban League was an election-year bid to use government resources to reach out to black voters and to slap at the NAACP, a group Bush snubbed last week because he believes it has been hostile to him.
“It’s one thing to say ‘let’s go be an entrepreneur,’ but if you’re not certain how to do it, people need help,” Bush said. “You may have a great idea, but you’re not sure how to keep the books. It’s a practical application of federal assets.”
One-stop business centers
Under Bush’s initiative, the administration will seek to expand business ownership among minorities by creating one-stop centers for business training, counseling, financing and contracting.
Bush’s Commerce Department, Small Business Administration and other government entities will pool resources to help the Urban League’s local offices help minority entrepreneurs.
Friday’s was Bush’s 16th trip as president to Michigan, a state he lost in 2000, and his second in 10 days. He scheduled another for one week later, July 30.
Bush said his administration was stronger for the presence of black officials including Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice.
He did not mention his opposition to affirmative action in a case that touched off opposition in Michigan and nationwide.
In January 2003, Bush asserted that a program of racial preferences for minority applicants at the University of Michigan was “divisive, unfair and impossible to square with the Constitution.” He took a position against the program in a Supreme Court case and did it on the birthday of civil rights hero Martin Luther King Jr.
Bush’s speech to the Urban League, his third since becoming president, came as a new poll showed African-Americans overwhelmingly support John Kerry. The poll also showed black voters have yet to entirely warm up to Bush’s Democratic challenger.
Blacks supported Democrat Al Gore over Bush by a 9-1 margin in the 2000 election, and the poll released this week by BET/CBS News showed their backing for Kerry is almost as strong.
Nine out of 10 black adults surveyed believed the Iraq war was not worth the cost in lives or money, and the same proportion believed the country is headed in the wrong direction.
Blacks constituted 10 percent of the electorate in 2000. Bush has sporadically sought to shore up his standing with the group through public appearances. On July 1, he staged an elaborate ceremony in the East Room to mark former President Johnson’s signing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
Image still suffers from 2000
The BET/CBS poll showed Bush’s image still suffers among black voters for the 2000 election recount in Florida. More than four in five blacks believe Bush did not legitimately win the election, and two-thirds think deliberate attempts were made to prevent black voters’ ballots from being counted, the survey found.
A Republican state lawmaker in Michigan stoked those resentments this month when he said the GOP would fare poorly in this year’s elections if it failed to “suppress the Detroit vote.”
State Rep. John Pappageorge, of Troy, Mich., said this week he had used “a bad choice of words” but said his remark shouldn’t be construed as racist. He apologized “if I have given offense in any way to my colleagues in Detroit or anywhere.”
Kerry, the Massachusetts senator, addressed the Urban League on Thursday. His spokesman said Bush has a “failing record on African-American opportunity.”
“Simply giving a speech will not erase the fact that George Bush has pursued policies that have failed to provide economic opportunity to all Americans and have negatively impacted African-Americans,” Kerry campaign spokesman Phil Singer said.

He's doing it to cover his own butt. Everytime he does something people frown  upon he makes some stupid act or whatever to make people vote for him. He doesnt face hard questions "out of the blue" very well. If he loved blacks so much why didnt he speak at the NAACP convention? squidward400 you yourself are not in danger. Its not only blacks, but young americans all together. I feel as if some of this stuff is brought to our attention to scare america. I dont support the war. Do we really know what were fighting for? Honestly?

Look, SSS, I dont want to agrue with you over this, but I guarantee freedom for Iraq is the last thing we're concerned about. We have to remember there is oil over there and the gulf war with George Bush Senior. To tell you the truth, I dont believe anyone in the American public understands the motive behind this, including you and I. Everytime I turn on TV I see new evidence about 9/11. And what really happened after the bombings. There is alot of covering up, but there is alot of fact in there too. It will be years before we rid ourselves of this and it will go down in the history books as a historical event, but we still dont know whats really going on. Thats why I ask, do we really know what we're fighting for? All this makes me wonder....

I dont get that either. Martha and Kobie are two different stories. Martha and Kobie will get off due to too much money and the fact that they are famous. Bush has nothing to do with this. Where'd you hear about that? Bush isnt a dictator read the dictionary. Its really just soiled politics and greed. Every modern day president is guilty of it. Bush will just tell you what you want to hear to shut you up.

I actually agree with you garygirl. Thats why I think the reason is other than saftey. And any male over the age of 18 must register their name with the army. Doesnt mean they have to go, but people do get called up. And it may not be  voluntary for much longer. Bush is raising salaries and benifits for up and coming soliders and the ones already inlisted to get people to go fight for something no one knows anything about. Alot of people are thinking "draft" in a couple of years, but we'll see. I do disagree with you about bush "NEVER" getting reelected. His popularity is pretty high. Some people feel safe with bush because he was president when 9/11 happened. Others feel he's done enough harm. And alot of people who are for Kerry think bush will win. It will be a close race. I do believe we are a  paranoid country to an extent. As terrorism is a big threat (that should've been addressed years ago) its getting quite silly with Terror level colored bar codes that only seem to go up around holidays or 9/11 or when information gets through. No one could believe that there are people out there who dont think america is "the land of the free". I knew that before 9/11 happened. America is an aggroant country and only would arise to a problem like this when it is threatened. The queen of Jordan spoke not long after 9/11 and said something like "This has been going on in our part of the world for years and when America gets hit, he have to jump to their aid". No country wants to go into Iraq because of fear for their own saftey. Like garygirl said (cant believe I just said that), lets take care of one problem before juggling another. Bush wanted to go into Iraq before 9/11, back in 2000!!

As for the thread being biased? Politics usually are. Depending on where you stand on certain issues.

Look at the evidence and weigh them out. I'd just vote for the lesser evil. Alot of the junk you hear is roumors. Kerry seems flakey and even he makes me nervious. Ralph Nader doesnt have anything.
