I've always wondered this, should they move the age thingy down to like 13 or something? Cuz, I know I have an opinion on these elections, and I bet that there would be a LARGE amount of kids voting. What I dont see is why you have to be 18 to vote anyway. Is it becuase thats when you "officially" become an adult?
-
They wouldnt know why they voted for them and they would act stupid when they voted
-
Not everybody. Very Intelligent people like myself MIGHT not do that.
-
I didnt say specifically who...most kids though...
-
uh huh..
-
Well I think the should lower it down to 13, but most adults might worry that we're just going to be voting on who's gonna give out the most candy.
-
..what kind of post is that?...
Maybe Junior High should be allowed but nothing below 7th grade...
-
Most kids would probably wreck it. They aren't mature enough. Many of them wouldn't even have their own opinions, they would just vote for who their parents told them to.
-
Thats what I said...just in a different way *SSJ*
-
I change my mind...once you get your license at 16...then you can vote. Not your permit, your actual license
-
No. It'd be completely pointless. Most 18-21s still didn't vote when they lowered it to 18.
-
Cause they didnt care...more kids vote and vote each year...
-
Yea. and more and more kids are watching theses shows like MTV who are TELLING you to vote..and since you guys say MTV brainwashes you...
-

Exactly what I was thinking.
-
No. I'll try to find the statistics of 18-21 year olds who vote in elections. It's so low, the people under 18 who voted would be even less. If you truly believe you need to get someone to get voted for, get your parents to.
-
My mom is too lazy. and I'm not. why cant I vote FOR her?
-
Why don't you encourage her to vote? Tell her that it would mean a lot to you if she did.
-
I dont hink you heard me right. SHE'S LAZY
-
I did hear you. Tell her to get off her butt and vote. Pester her about it or something.
-
..hmm...I am good at pestering..
-
Haha. I don't know what you look like, but if you look anything like your mom you can vote in her place.
-
....mom's white....I'm black....BIIIIG DIFFERANCE
-
Haha, sorry. You could always get some idiot person running the elections. I mean, look at 2000 Florida.
-
dont be sorry. I'm proud of being mixed.
-
You should be able to vote when you're 15.
-
why 15?
-
why 15?
I don't think I should say anything about my opinion on this... I'll get flamed.
-
I don't inted to be rude, but most kids wouldn't have the intelligence to vote fot the best candidate.
-
It's not being rude..it's the truth.
-
probably not. BUt I would! they should have their parents sign them up for soemthign, so they CAN vote.
-
license and up...15 is too young
-
nope most kids have no idea what they are voting for. 18 is the age you are legally an adult so you should make your decision then.
-
I dont even know what I'm voting for but I vote anywayz
-
Kids should vote as long as they are 12+
-
12 is way too young...thats 6th grade...
-
The majority of american children are stupid. They will only vote the way their parents vote. I don't think kids should vote.
-
I think they should raise it to 21...18 years old just vote for no reason...at least some do
-
I think the voting age is good where it is. As we grow, we form opinions, whether it's on politics, what foods we like, what kind of music we like, or whatever. I don't think we have all of the important opinions sort of finalized until we are older. Although people will always change thir opinions based on things they have seen or heard, they are mature enough to be taken seriously around this age. And having it be at 18, it gives you something to look forward to, and makes you feel like a real adult, getting to make a difference. Besides, if you didn't get to vote at 18, people would be looking forward to smoking at 18, which isn't too great.
-
No way, kids should not be able to vote. Letting kids to vote is pure stupidity. Kids will vote for who is "cooler".
-
...Or the most candy.
-
Is it becuase thats when you "officially" become an adult?
No. It's because we don't know any better.
-
voting at 12 &13? Ha! Haha! You realize how loofah that sounds, right?
sheesh, last time I checked, kidds my age are as sacky as a potato sack.
..like you all said:
dumb.
wants candy.
dumb.
dumb.
yeaah.
-
It's find at the age it is.I mean kids would know who to vote we'd probally have 2 presidents! :dots:
-
Having two presidents is impossible. Even if it is a tie in the citizen votes, the electoral votes are still there. If there is a tie in the electoral votes, the citizen votes are still there.
-

Excatly! They would listen to whatever their parents told them. 18 is a good age to vote. There are a few kids younger than that that should be able to vote, but not enough to have the age lowered. Some 18-year olds aren't mature enough to vote, but there are a lot more mature ones that make smart votes. Keep it at 18!
-
Sometimes I'd like it raised up to like 35.
-
Umm... that is too high. You have to be thirty-five to be president. Having it that high would be completely idiotic.
-
hmm..I'm setting myself on being the first woman president..and the first black president too. its a 2 in one deal!
-
Not if I get there before you! I'd like to be president, but then I wouldn't. It's very stressful.
-
Umm... that is too high. You have to be thirty-five to be president. Having it that high would be completely idiotic.
No, cuz very few people between the ages of 18-34 barely vote.
-

Yeah, but they do vote. There are important votes in this and every age group. Either keep it at 18 or put it to 21.
-
i dont think so... cause they dont reall y know what is going on
oh and squidward400 i LOVE ur avatar

oh and squidward400 i LOVE ur avatar
so do I.

  ahww.. orlando!!!
-
I agree.

Should kids vote? No. I mean come on now, how many 15 year olds actually care or watch anything political.....mabye a handfull. Alot of young people support canidates blindly because they see ONE thing they've done that would benifit them. Or, mommy and daddy tell them to. So, they just believe whatever their told. Its annoying that Nick has a rock song dedicated to democracy and want to cram all sorts of goverment from all over into 30 seconds. At least let kids take American and World history. I wouldnt want my ideas about goverment coming off a kids network. Its good to understand why our country is ran like this, but kids need to understand how the goverment effects even them and people all over. Not just say "bush (or kerry) is a bad person because all he does is LIE!!!!" They need to understand why they think that, not just babble on about something they dont understand. Even some 18 and up cant do that. They can lower the age to 8 and it wouldnt do much. Young people care about getting laid and drinking on the weekends.....
