Apparently there is a new ds coming out.  It's basicly the same thing as the origoinal except a little smaller and the buttons have been moved a little.

Also, WHERE'S THE POWER BUTTON?!

For the PSP part, that one is wrong. The DS out-sold the PSP.

Darkone, Im gonna like shoot you :( I was just about to post this...

Im getting this, my DS right now looks like crap and I could use something like that. And the power button idea is genuis. When it's on the screen, theres a chance you mgiht accidently hit it while playing, or hit it thinking its some other button...

January 26, 2006 - Following the earlier announcement of the new "DS Lite" revision to the DS hardware, Nintendo's Japanese parent has cleared up a few issues.

Although the product was announced in Japan, with no details given for international market, DS Lite will indeed be released in Europe and America. The company hasn't given a specific release date, only stating that the western markets can expect a release following Spring. This seems to suggest that a simultaneous release with the Japanese version (set for 3/2) is out.

There were also some questions about the fate of the current DS model. In Japan, Nintendo will continue to produce and sell the original model. The price of the original model will remain at its current 15,000 yen, 1,800 yen less than the 16,800 yen new model.

The DS Lite will be initially released to Japan in three colors, Nintendo reveals. In addition to the white color shown in the first pictures of the system, the company will release two yet unannounced colors.

Nintendo expects the DS to continue to perform well this year, both in old and new forms. Referring to the Japanese market, company president Satoru Iwata said to the Japanese press, "Taken as a whole with the current version, we're aiming at total domestic sales of 10,000,000 units not too late in the year." At the end of 2005, the DS had sold 5.7 million units in Japan.

We expect Nintendo's US division to provide further details on the US release of DS Lite in the not-so-distant future. Keep checking back here at IGNDS.

Well they aren't forcing you to buy a new one, its just an upgrade. You DON'T need it.

No, you're not. The mic is on the original DS. It's used to blow up your balloon in Mario Kart DS.

If this new DS Lite is alot lighter, I'll be really happy. My DS is huge...

No, it's only one of the reasons. THe DS Lite is alot brighter and is also whiter than the other one. Small and lighter is just an inclusion :P

I wish Nintendo would be cool and put an mp3 player on it too...

I really want to get it, because it looks nicer, and my DS got all scratched up in my backpack (stupid tic tac box!!!). But I dont have the money. I think that they should make it so that if you bring in your original DS, you can get the upgrade for, like, 30$. Because, seriously, its not worth 140$ to get a nicer looking version of something you already have.

No, we couldnt take it as a joke :P

And it's coming out in probably late 2006 for them smarty-pant Asians. Maybe middle 2007 for us?

And AppleNick, the DS is kinda huge for me. This one isnt so small.
