Title: Adding/Removing Programs questions.

Yeah, I need a lil computer help. I need some more space on my computer, and instead of spending money on it, Id like to delete some stuff but since you guys are way smarter at computers than I am, I'll ask you what I should delete and what I shouldnt.

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
MSN (I dont know what kind it is but its not Msn Messenger)
Microsoft IntelliPoint 5.0

Don't delete Framework. Some apps may need it.

Its probubly MSN Browser...I think you can delete it, but not sure.

Do NOT uninstall IntelliPoint. Because you have it, I am assuming your mouse recquires it. Don't get rid of it.

Yeah, don't remove either Framework, thats for the gfx card. And I assume the IntelliPoint is mouse. MSN doesn't take enough space to remove. No need.

Give us a complete list of your programs?

You can always download Easy Cleaner and delet a bunch of unnecessary files :P

4. Get a DVD burner and put all the junk onto DVDs.

Yeah, if I dont need any of those, tell me. I wish I could get rid of Limewire, but I constantly download things.

There isn't much to get rid of there.

Once again:

How big is your hard drive?
What else do you have besides programs? And how much space is that taking up?

use the following link and download the program, its real simple to use and will show you a graphical breakdown of how space is being used on your computer.

Just click on the location closest to you for faster download :D


once you download it and open it you pick the drive letter of your hard drive, it goes and reads the sizes for all files, and shows you what folders/files are taking up space. you can post that up here for us to better help you :D


looking at your  program list, MS Office can take up hundreds of MB if you have the full install. you could remove it and go with OpenOffice, although you would lose all the template that come with office....

256 MB of RAM
I dont think I have anything besides programs. I have a few pictures, and a bunch of recieved files (nothing huge)
I dont know how much its taking up, but probably not alot.

Go to my computer and right click your primary harddrive. Click Properties.

But I kinda figured that out after I realized that I needed 100 mb of free space and that I had things over 100 mbs already...

Relax. We're just here to help and correct your vocabulary mistakes. :P

kk I want you to do this. Will help us out alot.

1. Goto the start menu and click the Search button.

2. Click 'All files and folders'.

3. Then click the arrow that says next to it "What size is it?"

4. Select "Specify Size" and make the settings "At least 10000 KB"

5. Then make sure it's gonna search your C: drive, and start it up.

6. After it's done searching, click the header for the column that is labeled Size, so that it orders them in order from largest to smallest.

7. Then take a Screenshot.

8. Post it on USB :P

I didnt post the biggest files because they're mostly my Greys Anatomy episodes and some movies. I'll try and delete the things I'll never watch again thoguh.

No it doesn't remove your episodes of tv shows or music. Just crap loads of stuff that no one would want.
