Scamper the Penguin

VHS since 1988 but made into a DVD with the new movie in 2005. I'm not even sure it's on DVD. It's an old-school movie (1988) and a family video. It's awesome and probably one of the best movies ever made for kids.

My kids at the daycare love the movie.

I think I already posted BTTF in here, but another one of my favorites is Terminator 2. I was watching it last night and I never noticed this- Swarzeneggar's walking down the arcade's back hallway and he pulls out a gun from under roses, a reference to Guns N Roses, who has a song in the movie. You guys probably have got it, but I just did last night.

These kinds of responses are neither clever nor funny =<
"Gay" often substitutes for "stupid."
They're not supposed to be funny.

so you're implying that gay people are stupid?

I like everyone in "Little Miss Sunshine", especially Paul Dano and Alan Arkin, but it seems as though the Tenenbaums got poor and took a road trip to a beauty pageant.

And, speaking of the Tenenbaums and Wes Anderson in general, my favorite movie is "Rushmore".

Eeeewww. I hated Little Miss Sunshine. It was just unoriginal drivel to me.

Children of Men is amazing. I wanted to see The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (saw it at Target) but I twas broke :( (also saw Once which I've been wanting to see...In Bruges too).

Still haven't seen La vita e bella.

You need to see those two.

The thing about La vita e bella that I love is the main character, Guido, really makes me laugh. I thought I wouldn't find it funny because I would be reading subtitles (which I don't mind, by the way... I would never watch a dubbed movie). But it really was a genuinely funny movie. And saddening. I laughed, I cried.

Not among the all-time best I've ever seen (I'll make a list of those later), but one of my recent favorite movies is The Game. The ending is one of the most well constructed finishes to a movie I think I will ever see. The plot in general was good, but the end...brilliant.

Action movies are my fevorite but i like most in which ninja weapons are used as
a enter the dragone .(http://adscam.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341bfa1853ef01156f17d4e7970c-800wi)Hollywood loves anything they can mold into a cash-cow. From the spaghetti westerns of yesteryear to the epic

retelling of history and mythology i.e Troy. Some of these stories are completely fictitious or have been heavily

modified from a real story for more entertainment value. With that approach sometimes things are lost in

translation or exaggerated for effect, Ninjas and the Ninja movies are certainly not exempt for this.

A very basic history of ninjas goes a little something like this: Originating somewhere in the 12-14th century and

believed to be the very first special forces like unit. Trained in subterfuge and espionage the main

goals/missions of the ninjas was information gathering like modern day spies, with occasional assassinations and

guerrilla tactics to disrupt bases and supply lines.

Ever seen a ninja movie that even closely relates to the history? I doubt you ever will, but that doesn't mean the

movies are not completely inaccurate. Ninjas were not mighty warriors, in fact during large portions of Japan's

history weapons were outlawed for all bar the samurai who were the warriors of the time. Ninja 'weapons' are less

weapons and more farm tools and implements modified for the subterfuge and espionage missions they completed.

Ninjas rarely fought masses of enemies either, since they were not trained for battle as the samurai were they

would often perish if they stood there ground, thus leading to deceptive tactics used to distract so they could

procure there escape.

And of course, ninjas were just normal people like everyone else, they are not 'magical' they cannot become

invisible or clone themselves or any other outlandish thing like that. Deception was the ninja's biggest tool, and

via spreading stories they had many of the people of the times believing they could do such things, one account

even tells of a ninja who faked his death to scare his enemies into believing he could not be killed.

All in all ninja movies are generally exciting and action packed but rarely if at all contain a historically

accurate portrayal of the ninja.
