I'm really scared about this. Read the news article in the links below:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/06/16/world/main1723489.shtml - 2 pages
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13361343/ - 2 pages
So, umm, discuss, I guess...
And sorry if this was supposed to be in the Debate Den. You can move it there.
-
Whoo, it's a good thing we went after Iraq then!
-
Oh crap............I'm 50% sure this can and 50% sure it's not going to happen.
-
I just hope it has a directional error and doesn't launch successfully. Who knows...they might launch soon. The fueling is completed. And the news links are updated.
-
This could be serious(hope I regret it).
-
The news report said that they have at least a month before they test it, I think.
The missile definitely won't be good.
-
Do you think our aircraft can bring it down? If rthat happens then the radiation will spread. Oh jeez. We're going to be dead.
-
I wouldn't want radiation to spread in the US. Uhh, what aircrafts? The ones that the US has? Well, maybe, but I'm not so sure.
-
Something has to be done right? F*** the commies!
-
Something has to be done right? F*** the commies!
Yeah, because communists by nature have to hate the USA.
-

Yeah, because communists by nature have to hate the USA.
By nature, communists hate democracies and therefore would be inclined to hate the economical being of the United States, but not necessarily the country.
Anyways, my views. We do have missiles that can easily take these down.
-
We'll take it down. Though it might be a while till SK and NK turn into one Korea.
-
If that happens they'll probably think of some other excuse to split up and they'll take it out on the US... Again.
-
I'm not really worried about it because with our air defence and other security teams there is almost no way we can be harmed. Besides I'm tired of worrying about things that don't usualy happen.
-
I hope JR is right.

One of the worst things about all this is that North Korea is such a poor country; the standard of living there would be exponentially higher if they didn't waste their resources on weapons and concentrated on making sure everyone there has enough food and water, and adequate shelter.
A couple years ago (2004 I think), the UN estimated that for half the cost that the US pumps into the war in Iraq, no one would starve to death in the world and everyone could have clean water. Remember, according to the UN, 25,000 people die every day of starvation and a child dies of starvation every 5 seconds.
We have the resources, but we're too busy at war or threatening to test missiles.
-
I, think it's very scary that North Koreans have a long range missile. But as of right now, we have on idea, what's in the missile. It could be a Nuke, chemical weapon, biological weapon, or explosives. Still when, and if North Korea attacks us, we will go to war with North Korea.
-
Oh no! Not war! :(
-
Oh no! Not war! :(
If North Korea attacks us, we have to go to war.
-
World War III. :O
-
It could be... (Haha! I'm rhyming. Really good timing)
-
I heard on Connan O Brian, that the missle is supposed to land in California!!!
-
lol. More like in his a**.
-
^Nice! Kasumi should be a phone psychic :P

The end of the world! :O
-
wow...yea...im not scared i have Jesus on my side.
-
Well I bet the missle will hit Texas!
-
No. Hawaii. W00t!
-
Hawii??? Are you sure? I'm sayin Texas!
-
Hawaii will be the safest. If they even thought of hitting hawaii first, the press would say that it's the "Second Pearl Harbor" and almost every american would love to back that kind of war. Where they blew up one of our states...loool
Honestly, this is what I think.
The country is so poor, that whenever they need the electrical power to test launch it, the country will go into a blackout and all electricity will be gone FOREVER!!!!!1! muhahahahaha
For all yins that don't know what NK looks like, here's some pics:

-
CRAP! Those commies are never good news.
-
Well, they launched their big missile today...the IBM...and it failed in flight...loool...
back to relaxing for another 10 years...
-
I guess there's an emergency security meeting at the U.N. today. Some countries like Japan are calling for sanctions. I don't think some of these measures will pass at all China and Russia has always blocked many of these measures that the US have supported. Besides that, I do believe there is a external conflict with the U.N. Security Council. The US won't denounce Israel for their actions against Palestinians while others do and because of that, they can't get across with the Iran situation.
We do not need North Korea to attack Japan or others countries at all. If they nuke Japan, Japan may have to start their military operations again. Lets not forget that the Chinese and Japanese hate each other. This is why we stablized Japan after World War II. We must protect Japan at any cost and not let this crisis become one of the catalysis to World War III.
-
Hawii??? Are you sure? I'm sayin Texas!
Oh Heck no. Hawaii and LA are easy targets. Plus Texas is too far it's like in the South Central part of the country.
-
They launched it on the fourth of July. Irony, anyone? :P
-
I doubt North Korea is going to attack us, because they know, we have the abilty to destory the whole country in 10 minutes.
-
they will get theirs if they try and get one to the us. lets face it the military will destroy them if it does we have a giant military. and if they invade we have a 1.5 gun rate in every home.
