What is your favorite anime show? Don't say how horrible anime is, or stuff like that. Some of it is really good. Though other shows can be craptastic...

Bah. It is OK. The plot pretty much sucks. But nothing can compare on the suckage ladder to digimon seasons 3-4, maybe even 5 and american Sailor moon.

I really like Full Metal Panic and it's 2nd season, Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid. One of the best anime shows you'll ever see.
First it starts out with mechs and girliness, but at the end of TSR suicide, murder, and hopelessness are greatly hinted at. It's such a great anime because the characters actually think...you find yourself saying "oh, i wonder if she'll do that" and then you see them ponder it onscreen and follow through. Most shows like Pokemon and any other horrible american transitions almost always lack character thought...and this makes this anime the only 6/5 in my books (with a few others getting a perfect 5/5, but I won't list them here).
Sadly, there aren't any full copies of TSR out yet in english (only the first dvd of 5), but the entire first season is out in a DVD boxset...

The dubbed version of Naruto stinks. I much rather prefer the jap edition, with no fillers and all.

SAILOR MOON and THE TWELVE KINGDOMS.
Seriously, Japanese Sailor Moon is one of the best things ever known to mankind. It has magic, cussing, violence, female nudity, and lesbians! Ok, so that isn't what makes it a great story, but the lack of said things is what makes the American version suck so much. And the English dub voices are so obnoxious...
The Twelve Kingdoms is a great anime about a new world. This world is highly developed and kinda like Middle Earth in a sense. It has hot girls with swords, Kirin, gods, shrines, and all sorts of good jazz. Click the link and watch some Juuni Kokki goodness.

I don't watch anime except Pokemon, and even that I think jumped the shark.
I do read manga though, which is the same thing only in books. Personally, I think they should do a TV adaption of A.I. Love You. You heard of that one?

Well there are parts of American Naruto that suck. The dumb fillers and Naruto's voice. Just get to the bloody Sasuke/Gaara fight! Code Lyoko and Yu-Gi-Oh GX are ok, and HiHi Puffy Amiyumi is hilarious.

I've never thought of it like that. With the "pervy sage" episodes and some of the violence, I thought it was more aimed at teens.
And Puffy AmiYumi's still funny.

pretty much....i mean there were a few moments when there was no fighting, but i'd mark it down as maybe 10-15 episodes...

It's just less actiony. It seems like all the other anime on TV can't blend humor and action together, atleast not as well as Dragon Ball Z can.

yea...if you've seen the whole original season, then TSR is incredible. But Fumofuu ties together a few loose ends, so I'd suggest watching that before TSR. But only think about watching it if your parents don't mind a bit of swearing (ep. 7) or censored nudity (ep 8....but it's really really close to not being censored...).
FMP is just a downright good anime
Fumofuu is about school life with the same characters and ties together many loose ends between the original and TSR
TSR ties everything up and manages to bring up the big question: "What do we struggle for in life, and why?". It gets pretty serious, especially the last 5 episodes...I won't spoil anything at all, but watch em all...

that link has the original series in english, no subs...but it's the exact same as the japanese version...i checked the jap subbed vs the english ones...

Yeah. It's been building the story for a while, but now it's starting to get serious and to where the main story starts. I like it. I've caught a few episodes of Full Metal Alchemist and it was okay. I saw the Escaflowne movie, but never saw the series. Ummm, that's about it.

Sonic (very old episodes) where hilarious, Sonic Underground is a bit weird....Sonic X would have been great if it wasn't so damn fast-paced and poorly dubbed.

I hate anime. Me and my friend agree, and we're the only people at our table that feel that way. And the other's are WAY too obsessed that it has pretty much destroyed their personalities. But anyways... I've been through flamings for saying anime sucks, I can go through it again...
Interpretation of anime: There were a bunch of people standing there, and then there were a bunch of lines, and then everybody GASPED! Lmfao

I didn't like it at all when I first started watching "cartoons" like DB and DBZ when I was a little kid.
It takes a long time to find an anime that you'll really like and make you look for others like it.
Cowboy Bebop did that to me. It wasn't an anime. It was something above a story...like someone sharing bits and pieces of their mind with me. It was a good experience.
I then searched for a few more years and found The Getbackers, which is drawn by the same guys as cowboy bebop, but different storyline peoples. Just as good though.
Then I found Full Metal Panic. Oh, how I hated FMP for the first 10 episodes. Too stupid for me to watch (but only halfway decent thing on ondemand). But I kept watching it, cause I knew it was building to a point that I wouldn't want to miss (much like a good TV show). Then I found the next 2 seasons and went to town watching the heck out of them. A truly great anime.

But the rest was crap.
DB was hilarious.

The manga is better than the film in story, but both are great for artwork.
AKIRA the film is just animated and shortened. My advice. read the manga and watch the film. Both are fantastico. ^_^

DON'T WATCH THE 2001 EDITION! It's the older version you want to watch, it's the best one.

I've only seen a handful of animes, but so far the best of the bunch is Cowboy Bebop. It stays away from a lot of typical anime qualities that I hate. Episode 5, Ballad of Fallen Angels, is the best episode of the series and downright awesome. I also like the super-stylish opening of the show.

I remember they only ever showed the entire lot of DBZ 2 times. Then it got taken off air after DBGT finished.
They used to just put random episodes on at whatever crazy hour of day they wanted too while DBGT was out.
I hate the UK and it's system now that I've been to Florida. >:(

Yes, somebody on here other than me and my brother have actually heard of Eureka Seven! Maybe by short I meant in comparison to Naruto (about 285 episodes, if you count the 100+ that haven't aired here yet).

Thankfully the thread isn't over for the rest of us. :p Anyway, I have realized I like anime a lot more than I ever thought I would. I have drifted away from Naruto (the show, I still read the manga). I'm rather surprised there is no mention of Outlaw Star in this entire thread. It's one of the best anime I've ever seen. Other favorites of mine include Wolf's Rain, Chobits, Azumanga Daioh, FMA, Blue Submarine #6 and Spice and Wolf (hasn't made it stateside yet). I will post more recommendation worthy ones if I see 'em, but that's a decent list for now.

I coulda sworn that I mentioned that the english voice actors for Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, and Samurai Champloo had alot of crossover and I enjoyed all of those series quite alot. Their voices are epic.
I also enjoy long series, so Naruto and One Piece are ongoing for me.
I'm also (done) watching Haruhi season 2.
