Yes! Happy made up holiday! Who actually celebrates this? No one I know...
-
Kwanzaa is not a made up holiday, you n00b!
-
Yes it is. I was made up 40 years ago. PWNED.
-
You're getting more n00bish!
-
...
It was invented 40 years ago by a black guy who "wouldn't celebrate a white man's holiday!"
There are several things wrong with it.
90% of Africans or African Americans DON'T speak Swahili.
Corn doesn't grow native in Africa.
The harvest month is actually 2+ months after December.
Kwanzaa means first fruits by the way.

My grandmother says it's not a made up holiday.

It is. It was created 40 years ago.

Wow! Christmas was "made up" too!
Some people take this holiday seriously, alright? It celebrates the African-American culture, and was created in a time when blacks were treated like crap.
-
Technically it is not a holiday. Holiday means "holy day." An Example is Hanukkah, Halloween, Easter(which has nothing to do with christ anymore. The name easter derives from the name of the godess Ishtar.), and the religious version of Christmas.
-
"Holiday" may have derived from "holy day", but its modern meaning also means a celebration or vacation.
And, you called it a "made-up holiday". Thus, you did call it a holiday, let alone a "made-up" one.

LOL at this thread. I wonder if anyone actually celebrates this. I have been asking around for years.
