I feel this needs to be discussed. Both screenshots were recorded with two digital tv tuners and both tuners were by Hauppauge.
Analog Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE-Kit (This is proof HD Channels suck on SDTV's and they're worse than SD on SDTV's) - This was originally captured in 720x480 and cropped down using coax port.

Digital Hauppauge HD-PVR - This was originally captured in 1280x720 and resized to 640x352 using the component ports.

It's obvious the first one is non-HD broadcast in a 16:9 aspect ratio.

The first is HD-Broadcast but on a non-HD tv tuner. Look, you can see the HD logo on both of them.

You can clearly see the "HD" in the Disney Channel logo in the first one.

...I don't see it...

The top one looks pixalated thats about it.

You can see part of the HD letter but that's about it.

I think it would have to do more with coax vs component signals and how easy it is to properly record from those.
component will always look better than coax on an HD set.

HDMI is supposed to look better but there's not much difference in it. Also, the audio will be better with S/PDIF ports than component.

Sure, we get the point that digital is better, but it's still possible to have high-quality TV on your computer without it being HD.

I always thought HDMI was nicer for things like Blu-Ray, because of all the HDCP stuff.
