Now, I know this hasn't really happened yet, but usually on a general game board it can happen. The inevitable Console Wars. Fanboys will claim that one system is superior to another, and then a fanboy of a different console disagrees, and what usually ensues is a flame war. I don't have a problem about you guys just arguing over which one you think is better as long as flames don't start flying. If you do want to argue about consoles, please do it in a nicer, friendlier way. With this in mind, we can make the board a HAPPY PLACE! Yay.

OK imagine this...i use to be the biggest fanboy fer nintendo...cmonkey knows fo sho...i use to love my little buddy i called gamcube...well...christmas...XBOX...how the tides have changed.  i dont really wanna name a favorite...but im gonna hafta go with my xbox.  I really have become disapointed with my cube now, it just doesnt have the title power...like i got zelda...ok...now what haha...but i think more that im not a fanboy at all any more...its all gravy...yep thats right gravy

Reasons that Patrick is wrong.

1.  Its not portable, because you still have to plaug it into a wall.  Any of the consoles can be unplugged and relocated easily, so GameCube doesn't have anything special there.
2.  Every system has it's awesome characters.  PS2 has Solid Snake, Xbox has Master Chief.
3.  Gamecube costs $150, Xbox and PS2 cost $180.  The added hard drive and built in networking are worth the extra $30 for an Xbox.
4.  GameCube barely even has a lineup for 2003-2004.  Now that Zelda and Metroid are out, theres basically nothing left.  Xbox on hte other hand, has Halo 2, Fable, Splinter Cell 2, Half Life 2, Counter-Strike, etc.
5.  Why would anyone want to play Gameboy on thier TV.  The idea of it is portability.  There are much better games to be played on consoles instead if your at a TV.
6.  The free game and demo disc deals were during the last holiday season.  They aren't around anymore.
7.  The cordless controller part is true.  I'm still wating for Microsoft to make one.

oh, Cmonkey, u r wrong about some parts and I, am wrong about some parts.

a) Actually, it's small, so if ur bringing it over to a friends house if ur walking or biking or something, just store it in a backpack.

b)there is a metal gear solid game for gamecubr coming out thats called metal gear solid:twin snakes

c)u were right, but if u save it on the hard drive, it slows the load times, and gamecube still has the fastest load times, actually, it doesn't have one

d) U r wrong, first of all, gamecube has splinter cell, with extra features 2)Gamecube has an awesome lineup: Final fantasy:crystal chronicles, F-zero, Kirbys air ride, Mario kart:Double dash, mario golf:toadstoal tour, viewtiful joe, metal gear solid:the twin snakes, Wario world, bily hatcher and the giant egg, soul caliber 2, metroid prime 2 (tentative title), wario world, Sonic adventure dx, Phantasy star online episode 3, pikmin 2, animal crossing 2 and way, way more!

e)Gameboy player has the same features as gba sp, IT"S WAY BRIGHTER, bigger, and better

f)it is going on for a while on now because a friend of mine bought a gamecube a couple days ago and they got a free game

1.  I've brought my xbox over to friend's houses dozens of times.  I can easily fit an Xbox, 4 controllers, and all my games in one small backpack.
2.  There's also a Metal Gear Solid game for Xbox, MGS2: Substance.
3.  I don't know where you thought up this one, but its insanely wrong.  A hard drive speeds up load times by far.  Have you ever played Halo?  It loads the entire level onto the hard drive at the beginning.  You can then play through a huge 2 hour long level without having to load again.  It's only possible on Xbox... and PC.  Last time I checked, Gamecube load times were slower, because the optical disks are slower than DVDs.
4.  Every Title you mentioned there is either on Xbox or is not even close to as good as the games that I mentioned.
5.  The idea of SP is portability, not being "bigger"  In fact, it is smaller because of the clamshell design.
6.  It must have been a special at that store then, because the official Nintendo offer ended a few months ago.
Go ahead and say more, Falco is right, it's useless.

its no lie...gamecube does have a pretty descent looking lineup...as do all of the systems...how bout i ask you this patrick...WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING NOW?...take it uve beaten zelda...(and u should have...it was way ez)...im betting you probably arent playing anything new...sure its cool to dust off super smash bros...but still...cube just doenst have anything NOW...i really dont care if all these great games are coming out in 6 months...what about NOW

Well, lets see, Zelda IS really easy. But Skies of arcadia legends, GREAT GAME very long. Also Nba street 2 is very good as well. Also, my main goal is to get 100%in metroid prime (very difficult). And Cmonkey, what ru playing now?

Halo isn't too old, its still better than pretty much every console game out there.  Age doesn't have much to do with quality.  I still have fun playing Tetris on my GameBoy.

You go cmonkey! He is right age has nothing to do with quality, unless it wears out like old nintendo cartriges. There is a name for games like this we call these classics. Yes Halo is two years old now but it's still worth playing. Right now im playing Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Metroid Prime. Im on The last guy in oucast, i hate his guts man. im still saying cmonkey has the upper hand...but...i just wanna point out...i dont think that cube really has any titles that have staying power...few people go for 100 percent metroid...you can only play so much super smash bros...halo has been out fer awhile...and wow...it still is great.

Yes, halo is good. But, so are all my games. I still LOVE ssbm, trying to make different strategies etc. And im not 100% metroid, but it's STILL great. I mean, it's awesome! If there's something that glows, ur face reflects off ur visor! If it's raining and u look up, water drips down ur visor! There's also incentives to beating it! Different endings, galleries. U can even play Metroid ONE on it!

FPS means its a shooter, which Metriod is, played from the first person.  So it is a FPS.  It can still have elements of adventure, most FPS's do anyway.

What he's trying to say is that since you see through the eyes of Samus, that is first person. And, to everyone's surprise, she's holding a gun. We shoot things with guns. Hence, it is a First Person Shooter, or FPS. If you were to classify it as anything, it would be FPS, not adventure.

ok, I am a bigger metroid fan than ALL OF YOU GUYS. So, It IS a fps, BUT, it's more of an adventure. It's ont like jamesbond where u pick up weapons and in the next mission, u dont have them. METROID CANNOT HAVE MULTIPLAYER, it's not MEANT to have multiplayer. Who would player 2 be?!?!. And u palyer two would have to be the person from there save file because u dont haev all the same missles!

Have you ever heard of a little game called Halo?  In the multiplayer, it's just a bunch of Master Chiefs playing against each other.  They could have made a multiplayer mode in which Samuses play against each other, but they didn't.  And thats why Halo is a better game.  BTW, it still is a first person shooter, not an adventure game, it makes no difference whether you keep your weapons or not.  In adventure games like Tomb Raider, you don't get infinate ammo, but that doesn't make it an FPS.

Gamecube is by far the best system. It has awesome games, way faster load times, gameboy player, wireless controllers, better controllers, and the re-makings of some of the older games unlike the 64. I own an gamecube and an Xbox, and Xbox is really good, but Gamecube is a better system.


P.S. Cmonkey must have a huge backpack to fit Xbox, 4 controllers and games into it.

If you're naming games, I can do that too.  Halo, Splinter Cell, DOA3, DOAX Beach VolleyBall, Brute Force, Project Gotham, Morrowind, Ghost Recon, MechAssualt, Return to Caste Wolfenstien, etc.  And thats not even mentioning the technological superiority of Xbox.  And don't forget about Xbox Live either...  SS4, I say go for the Xbox.  The games coming out this year and early next year are going to be awesome.  Halo 2 early next year.  Fable, Splinter Cell 2, Doom 3, Half Life 2, Counter-Strike, Ninja Gaiden, Deus Ex 2, Rainbow Six 3, and more coming out before Christmas this year.

the consoles known by the name of xbox and gamecube both have most excellent pros...and sum cons...
gamecube...
if ur getting a game cube...ur prob getting it cuz o nintendo...thats y i did...if u dig mario zelda etc franchises...ur not gonna c them ne place else...its got gba connectivity...which is going to really be used in the not so distant future...i personally think its kinda gimmickly...but hey maybe it'll be coo...seriously speakin...the cube is a great system...the little disks...kinda cool...people say they cant hold that much...but they offer really good games on them.  load times aint that bad...ps2s are worse in my opinion...i could name more stuff...but i think i'll hold it there...the cube is solid...and u truly cant go wrong if ur into nintendo.......

ok...with the xbox...ur not getting the same approach as the cube...honestly...i can say the box is more mature than the cube...i honestly view the cube as a little too kiddy...the box has some most excellent selection of games as the cube does...xbox's are better in my eyes...i like that the box really doesnt have load times...almost non-existant compared to the cube...people say its too big...no...sure it is a beasty lil bugger...but seriously folks...its not that bad...box can play dvds...very cool...

ya know...i think both of these systems are r0x0rs...mucho...my personal preference is box...b4 i write more...i want sum other peoples input...y do u think ones better then the other...then i'll write another long thing on y i think box is better...

Xbox is a better value than gamecube becuz u came do more stuff with it. U can play DVDs and cds with it. The gamecube is a pure gaming consle so the deciosion is yurs. Cmonkey dont bash gamecube! Your all wrong PS2 is by far the best. Cept it doesn't have xtreame beach volleyball :sad:

No, PS2 is definately overrated.  People say its good just because it sold a lot of boxes.  Xbox is better in every way.  The only thing PS2 has is GTA and Final Fantasy, but Final Fantasy is going on Game Cube too now.

I guess I'm not like most people because I buy 2 or 3 games every month. I still like the PS2 more, but that's because I play it more. I like the Xbox more than my Gamecube. I play the Xbox more than my GC too. I almost play it as much as my PS2.  :biggrin:

I don't believe the hype that GC is best because of Mario Zelda Metriod--games like that. For one, Mario hasn't been truly innovative since Mario 64. Zelda wasn't that great, and I still like the original zelda and the ones on n64 more. Metriod, well the last good metriod game is on the GBA--metriod fusion. Prime just didn't deliver to me.

For the Xbox, there are greatgames, and not just Halo. Even thoughMorrowind has a freezing flaw, it is still one of the best RPGs around for a nextgen console and lesslinear than FFX. As soon as Halo 2 comes out for Xbox, I will probably post here and say Xbox rocks all!

Get a decent PC instead.  I built mine for $700 and it would destroy any Dell, HP, or Sony that was under $2,000 at the time.  Anyone could easily build a great gaming computer for around $500 without a monitor.  Blink, there are dozens of excellent Xbox games, tell me what genres you like, and I can recommend some games.

I looked at compbrain's site, man he has a lot of computers.  Did he build any from the ground up? :biggrin: I am just learning about servers. I want to make one of my own using one of my dad's computers that he doesn't need anymore. Can you recommend any books or stuff that would tell me about making a secure server and site hosting? Back to the debate, no one should knock the Xbox who hasn't played it. If you do, then you're just repeating what some fanboy or magazine said about it. Ever since they made the better S controller, I haven't had much of anything bad to say about the system. It IS the BEST console system for online gaming. Gamecube is a joke in that department and the PS2 doesn't have a hard-drive here in the US or nearly as many good online games. And like cmonkey said, the hard drive means no load times. And that means a lot when you play online. And broadband is a must for online games, especially frag games. PS2 idoes embrace most online users today since most have 56K. But I think the Xbox is looking at tomorrow's users and pushing online game forward by making it enjoyable and stable with the forced bb connection. I used to play Unreal on the Dreamcast using 56K and got owned by guys using bb. So, back on the DC I got broadband and haven't looked back since. This is wherethe Xbox shines.

I must admit, at first I believed the Nintendo hype because it had the known franchises (but we know how I feel about that now) and for the most part loving the PS2 more because of the sheer number of games. But now that I think about it, and since someone did mention it before, more doesn't mean better. I just have an affinity for the PS2 because it plays all those RPGs I had for my original playstation and for games like grand theft auto vice city. I am pressed to retract my statement that if I could have only one system it would be the PS2. It's kinda of a tie with PS2 and Xbox. I just know that with both being $179 now, I would choose one of them over the $149 Gamecube any day.

I would recommend: halo, morrowind, madden 2003, phantasy star online, star wars galaxies (when it comes out), midnight club 2

steer clear of Enter the Matrix (its horrible on any system) and Azurik

Oh, like the Gamecube, but imo it doesn't hold a candle to the other two, even though it has some better specs than PS2. I just wonder if Nintendo, a 100 year old company, is intentionally trying to sabotage it's longevity in the console business by not having a real online plan and if they are going to pull a Sega and turn into a software only company with continued hardware devlopment for the GBA (their best selling machine).

Yellowbird, as far as I know, Compbrain builds most of his computers, or acquires them from other people/companies.

If you're planning on having a server, I recommend Linux, for its stability and security.  I recommend starting out on linux with something that isn't permanent, like Knoppix (http://www.knoppix.net/).  It's Linux that runs off a bootable CD, so don't have to change anything on the computer, you just pop in the CD and try linux.  After that, you could try other linux distributions like Red Hat (which I'm using on my server).  You can check places like http://www.linuxhelp.net/ (http://www.linuxhelp.net/) for help with Linux.

Nintendo's president wsa talking about dropping the console hardware business a year or two ago, but apparently they are still making a new system for 2005/2006.   They already made deals with some companies for parts for it, but I forgot which ones...   They really don't stand much of a chance though, especially with thier slowness in going online.  Also, since Sony is developing a new handheld, which is technologically far superior to a GBA SP, Nintendo may eventually have to go Sega.  Then again, Microsoft does have a lot of spare money laying around....

I can't believe Nintendo is going to put out another system. What are they thinking? Do they want to live with the same shame as Sega had to when the DC died? They make good games, no one can deny that. They have the franchises, no one can deny that either. But they haven't had the better system since the SuperNES. :ohmy:

I just think it would be great (and sort of wierd) to have a nintendo title on a machine with the graphical power that the Xbox has. And, I know that Nintendo isn't the company that will make said machine. Nintendo is a great game company, but as far as console gaming goes, they have been pushed out of the limelight by Microsoft and Sony.

Ooooooh. The super nintendo. Well, I think I can safely say that Chrono Trigger is the best game and rpg on the super nintendo. Chrono Trigger has great graphics and a great story. The kind of rpg you can't stop playing.

N-gage is sort of interesting.  It was originally just going to be a cell phone with gaming features, but then Nokia turned it around.  Now they're trying to advertise it as a gaming system that happens to have a cell phone in it.  It is hugely overpriced, and that will certainly be it's downfall.  That, and the monthly fee.

N-Gage sucks. I work at GameStop, and we just got them in. Having a 9-button interface, and only a few of them used for gaming is confusing. Plus, there's no shoulder buttons (I know a lot of hand-held gamers are used to those). Changing games is also a pain. And why play 3-D games that you can barely see when you can play them on a console that where you can see them? Plus, the games are old. And using it as a cell phone is a HUGE pain.

its easy to say a pc is better then a console
BUT IT AINT ill give you some reasons
pc games get higher and higher system requirements every month  if you buy a pc you have to upgrade after 6 months to keep up
pc hasnt got the easy mp
pc is for different kind of games
consoles wont tick you of all the time because of an ERROR :bangin:  or VIRUS :bangin:
consoles get more games and alot games would be lame on pc

alot games would be lame on pc
well obviously you dont have many PC games...PC games rule over console games...you do know that all console games are made on PC's, then conformed into consoles...ie trimming out things here n there. And they are usually included on the PC game. For example if you ever bought the PC version of resident evil there is like an extra 20 minutes of cutscenes in it...FFX has extras too, and forget about Halo...better graphics, better sound, easier to control...etc.

And they make the games go onto consoles because it makes them more money that way. All the kids runnin around tellin their mom, or dad "I want I want!" and thats how they make most of their sales when it comes to games. They just want you to think that a TV has better resolution than a PC monitor...
And why not buy a new PC every year, most places let you trade in your old PC for a credit on the new one, and its so worth it. Specially if yer doin it every year. It makes it way less expensive that way.

because pcs are a high cost it doesnt guarantee a game will sell. in every shop you will see that there more adventures/ first person shooters and mmorpgs on consoles then on pc plus a lot of good games are made first for a console simply because there is more chance of selling.

First off, Xbox is 733 intel CPU. The graphics processor is 233mhz. Also, you can download an emulator on a computer and get some ROMs, but that doesn't automatically make your computer a console. The Xbox IS a console, not a PC. They are quite similar, but also have differences as well.

And, matty, what are you talking about?  Computer games have been online long before console games.  Also, PCs dont get outdated that fast.  I built my computer last December, and it still plays the latest games without a problem.  I won't need to make any upgrades for at least a year.

but yeah, I helped build my PC last year, and I'll still have a year b4  I HAFTA upgrade it, but then I'll just sell it back, and get the parts for a new one for like 300 bux, and that one will last upto 4 years...unless there is a MAJOR jump in technology.

Well considering that most home theater systems cost upto 1500 bux, its not really a waste if you buy a 150 dollar xbox, and convert it, buy some cheap speakers to go with it, and tuh duh...a 200-300 dollar home theater system!! The cheapest one Ive ever found was 600 bux!!! :blink:

That was kinda dumb. Have you ever played PS2? I've never played Xbox, but I say PS2 is the best because it's the best that I've seen. If I ever play Xbox, and it's better than PS2, I'll say so. I'm not the kinda guy who says "This system is the best because it's a Play Station." If you ever get the chance to play PS2, take it. It's worth it.

im talking about a lan party. nobody else can really pull that off.  gamecube is slowly attempting to try it...but i dont really feel like playing 1080 over a lan...

In my opinon PS2 is the best of the 3 next gen consles. Mainly because of the games. I like a lot of Role Playing games and PS2 has a lot of stuff like that. And it's got good online play (you don't have to pay monthly and stuff).

I think you've had too much chocolate. Even if Metal Arms looks like you say it's still just one game man. And the disc reader for PS2, I've had my PS2 for 3 years and I've never had a problem. It was even one of the first to come out and those are always the messed up ones.

The PS2 is a very good game system. I'd gladly trade in my Gamecube for it. Maybe your disc reader broke because you didn't take care of it. The graphics are amazing. They beat out the Gamecube with room to spare.

PS2 Has good graphics, but Xbox is amazing. There are things that the PS2 would heat over and malfunction on, Whereas Xbox does those things like a walk in the park. And the PS2 has no graphics accelerator, and a processor as fast as the Bondi Blue Bombshell iMac (240MHz). The Xbox has a processor running at about 750MHz, and a nVidia grpahics card.

all three of the next generation consles can produce some amazing looking graphics. Alot of times it depens on what the games graphics engine is. It also depends on developers. Another thing is that is you compare a multiple consle game like madden the graphics look identical. And if your reader broke it might be one of the first of the ps2s. They're always the messed up ones. and it's not just sony it's everyone.

I think it is from a cutscene. but FMVs (CG movies) are what make graphics look so much better than actual engine graphics. That is no FMV. I don't think they use FMVs in Gran Turismo.

So they sound nowhere near the way they sound in the game. some are ok. Otherworld sounds bad in the midi. Anyways if you go there make sure you listen to these songs...

I think GameCube lacks what PS2 and XBox has....
games for adults!!! what 20 year old wants a GC.... Its one of those kiddie type of things... There is no GTA for GC and if there was... there'd be no guns and it would be rated T. They lack those good games (to me) and another thing.... IM SICK OF MARIO!!!!!! The only thing Nintendo has is Pokemon, Mario, and Sonic which Sega decided should go on every platform.... To me XBox and Ps2 have:

Better Graphics
Better Games
They can make games not only for kids, but for adults
They dont count on one game to get them money 'cuz

and yeah PC and Mac are alright but I like PC better!

GC does lack M rated games yet it has Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil Remakes and some more. Yet Gamecube actually has better graphics than PS2. And maybe some 20 year olds actually like mario games and Metroid and stuff.

It's not. If you look at the 3 next gen consoles there are ALOT of games that are on all 3. The GC really dissapointed me in 2003 with it's lack of everything. There are lots of great games for the PS2 that you havn't mentioned.

I like video games a bit, especially the "Zelda" series. Yes, there are games that I do like on the newer platforms, with "graphics" and such, but nothing can add up to the quality classics, like N64, SNES, etc. They were the best, remember the "SNES" hype? There used to be lines of those games everywhere, they had a lot.

Actually, I have played a PS2. I own one. The graphics on most games are crappy. The only good game is DDR. I live in Michigan. The X-Box controllers aren't confusing. They actually have some grip to them, unlike the other tiny controllers. I've played the popular games too. GameCube games are better and more original. All PS2 ones are are sequels to games.

Video games don't "rot your brain out", all they could do to you is give you (at the worst) a slight headache if you play way too much. Trust me, I know.

(Just don't sit in front for 12+ hours a day, because you can literally perish if you do, it's a lack of activity that gets to your heart. Very bad.)

It actually isn't all that popular at all... it's currently 3rd in worldwide sales, and has some serious image problems (which in my opinion are pretty stupid, but they exist nonetheless).  It might be popular here (probably because since we're on a SpongeBob forum, we have no trouble enjoying the so-called "kiddie" games), but we definitely don't represent the majority...

Currently, I'm not exactly sure which one's selling better (it's probably PS2), but overall, it's PS2.  By a mile.

Although I wouldn't really worry about console sales all that much.  I only have a Cube, but I don't really hate the other two consoles, so I don't really care if the Cube outsells the others or not.  All I hope is that the Cube sells enough to bring some decent 3rd party games to the console, and to keep Nintendo rolling out future consoles.

XBox has a few good games that I've played at my friends house, I liked Halo 2 and Fable.
But PS2 takes the lot, it has great games, i.e San Andres, Final Fantasy, Timesplitters 3 and a whole lot more.
Also it saves me the hassle of buying a DVD player but that would be on any console at the moment I think.

I currently enjoy Xbox and Playstation 2. And a lot of people keep saying, "Xbox has the best graphics", and although it does, if anyone in here has played God of War, Xbox has NOTHING on that game. Back to consoles - I'm getting an Xbox today from my dad, he asked which one I wanted (GCN or Xbox, I like Xbox Live so Xbox was the way to go). Yay! And about the Gamecube, I always have a change of heart with it. I really do hate all the Mario spin-offs lately, but I cannot wait until Super Mario 128 comes out. That is one (of two) GCN games I'm looking forward to. The other one is the next Legend of Zelda installment. This game looks amazing. And the sound is superior to any GCN game in the trailer. So, I definitely like GCN the worst of the 3 (I don't include Dreamcast), and earlier today I said it wasn't that great of a system. When I said that, I meant of the 3. It's truly a unique and great GAMING experience as a whole, but in my preference, Playstation 2 gets my vote. Reason being: I'm an RPG guy, Playstation 2 is basically your RPG-course in this situation. I also have started taking a liking to Platform Action/Adventure games (Such as PoP: WW, PoP: SoT, God of War, etc.) and I think Playstation 2 has the best to offer in that genre. I think every system has its strongpoints. For instance, GCN has it's great controller. Xbox has it's superior graphics and Playstation 2 has it's share of RPG's. I used to think that Gamecube was for kids (with the exception of RE4 and the RE revamped games), Xbox was for more adult-like people and Playstation 2 was in the middle, but that was major sterotyping, so I changed it. Well, at least you didn't call the Gamecube "kiddy", which irritates me to no end.  So I see no reason why anyone would blast you for this.

And I should just put this on the record, that although I only own one console, that being a Gamecube, I am by no means a rabid fanboy of said console.  If I had the money to waste, I would pick up an XBox and PS2 in a heartbeat (well, not anymore, since the console is almost dead anyway, but you get my drift).  I just have other interests, so one console is enough for me...

I prefer the olders. SNES, NES< Dreamcast, N64(AWSOME!.PS1 is ok, but IO like the good 'ol nintedno and sega calssics most.

P.S.: Apprenyly, every 5 years SOony releases a new Playsation.

GameCube not having enough good games? Yeah right. If you think the Super Mario Bros., Metroid, and Legend of Zelda franchises aren't good... wow. Not to mention, Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games now, it's up there even with San Andreas and Halo 2.

San Andreas is coming out for Xbox soon, it'll have better graphics than the PS2 one, and some new features and stuff.

GC can't play DVDs.

My favorites, in order:

GameCube: This is the only current console I have! I don't care what people say, the controller is GREAT to use, and the games are better than any on any other system.

PS2: I do have a soft spot for this project, mainly because Katamri was released for it.  It has it's share of neat games, and a very innovative controller.

XBox: I HATE MICROSOFT.  I'm serious. Their OS sucks.  Although I have to admit their console is a little better, it's not by much.  The system is entirely overrated.  And I don't like the controller at all.  Plus, I'm not a Halo fan.  AT ALL.

I don't really like how PS2 has a DVD player built in, mainly because it raises the price by one hundred bazillion.  If I were in charge of Sony, I would make the DVD player an add-on , so people that actually WANTED it could choose to buy it.

PS2 games are on DVD media, so the DVD player is a required item in the system.

Also, the PS2, just as the PS1, has terrible media player reliability.  The drives Sony uses just suck.  At least the PS2 does not overheat like the PS1 did. :)

Definately the GameCube. It had the coolest, most comfortable controller out there. Also, It is wayyyyy more portable then others cause its so small, and even has a built in handle at the back. Also, it has some of the best games out there. Such as, SuperSmash Bros. Meele, Viewtiful Joe, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, And the best Soul Calibur 2 character (Link). You also get all those great Nintendo only franchises. Like Mario, Zelda, Metroid and more. It also had great graphics.

There's why I think that GameCube is the best! :ph34r:

Also, the cube has the BEST game selection. PS2 may have most games, but loads of them are crap! Or at least to me they are crap. And the gamecubes graphics are great on a nice vivid screen.

Completely agreed, Mircosoft just cares about improving their systems and graphics adding tiny little online detials that aren't even that useful.
Nintendo on the other hand is being more unique and creating new types of games, unlike trying to get the same fighting game like dead or alive, stick a few extra charaters in the game and the gameplay is completly the same.

Im liking the revolution because of the access to all those classic nintendo games, plus the controller is mega wicked.

I dont trust HD-DVD and BluRay because the current encryption means that all the video cards that are out right now will only be to play HD-DVD and BluRay at 1/4 of their original resolution, even if you have a widescreen monitor that suppots HD resolutions.

The controller isn't mega wicked, more like mega-rigged, it's like mucked up! I'm going with Sony and Microsoft. I've played Halo once and I really enjoyed it. The other games are also alright but I haven't played most of them. I played Ricky Ponting's International Cricket (cricket fans only) and it was so good. Great graphics and beautiful gameplay. I'm not a fan of Nintendo, I only liked a few games but they were too boring and Nintendo was the worst console in my opinion right now.

I'm just going with the 360 or the PS3 at the moment, I'm just waiting a couple of months or maybe a lot of months for the price to settle down.

It will be a while till the 360 price cools down. MS is losing a 100 somethin bucks for each premium bundle sold.

I've played Xbox for hours on end. Like I said it is good, but to me, nothing compared to DC, PS2, and GCN. I love FPSes. Call of Duty, Battlefront, Battlefield, Halo 2 Multiplayer, Halo PC, Wolfenstein, Enemy Territory, and a LOT more are great FPSes.

I believe the term "console" only refers to home systems, such as Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox. Handhelds are different, since the output device is built-in. I'm not really sure. They're all systems, anywho.

Patrick_Stars, you seriously need to think before you type. Everything coming out of your mouth (or your posts) is crap.

You're the biggest fanboy of them all. You never even played Gamecube. You can't just judge a system without playing it.

Nintendo DS is the current leader in the handheld department, for me, and the worldwide figures say so, as well. Only a handful of PSP games are actually fun; Lumines and Syphon Filter. My favorite system would be PC. I can play most retro systems on it, which I adore. I don't have a NES, SNES, Genesis, or N64. On the PC, I can!

As for consoles, I would say Gamecube has the most fun titles. Xbox doesn't really have anything that interests me. Yes, I have played Halo. The multiplayer is fun for a while, but after that, it's really boring. Playstation2 has some great RPGs, I admit. But, it doesn't match up to its predecessor.

I am looking forward to Wii. Hopefully there will be another name change at E3? If the final secret is good enough, I'll continue looking forward to Wii. Otherwise, it's going to be PS3 (when all of the kinks seem to be worked out).

I've played both of the new handhelds, and I don't think that I would ever spend that much money again for a handheld. Life is meant for relaxation. If you have that much free time, buy a magazine or a book :P

I love all the consoles. They each have different things that attract me.

Computer games seem to have the most potential.

There are some really great games on the Nintendo DS. It makes it worth buying. If you don't like traditional gaming, you can try Touch! Generations games, such as Sudoku, Brain Age, Brain Academy, Nintendogs, and many other unannounced US titles. That is why the Nintendo DS is such a wide success; it breaks the trend. Instead of just appealing to ignorant, blood sucking, 10-16 teenagers (e.g. Grand Theft Auto), they are appealing to girls, adults, seniors, children, AND teenagers.

They are developing an Opera Web Browser. In fact, I think that you can already get it in Japan. But im not gonna get it. You cant play games, or watch video on it. Well, actually, you might be able to play some games on it, but you cant get flash for it, so you wouldnt be able to play a lot. Also, playing games on it would be kind of irritating without a mouse.

Also, does anyone know if Cooking Mama is coming out for DS, or will I have to import it? Oh, and DS is definately better then PSP. It costs less, and it has a lot of good games. The PSP only has a handful of good games. But, it does have a ton of special features.

I really want a Wii now that I have a 360, just for Mario. I have no interest in a PS3 since MGS4 will eventually get ported to 360. Besides MGS4 I'd only want a PS3 for Blu-ray. They have no really good exclusive games (besides MGS4) like 360 (Halo, GOW) or Wii (all of their franchises).
