I could care less. I only care about my opinion right now. Until I see a compaq that actually makes me happy, I'll stick with eMachines

Not really... You should at least back up your opinion. Apple's hardware is good, especially for Linux. I've used it, and compared, so I know. Plus, Microsoft doesn't make PCs. MicroSOFT, meaning software. Plus, you're bashing OS 9. Get on OS X and we'll talk.

I'm trying to convine my dad to get an iBook for burning his music and stuff instead of a pc because he wants a laptop that he can take to work with him and the iBook I'm recommending him is cheaper than any good PC laptop.

I would actually recommend a laptop as long as he doesn't drop things all the time.

my old comp took like 3 minutes to boot up completely (BIOS, Boot SCreen, Desktop)
Sometimes longer.

my new comp boots way faster, the BIOS is way faster, and Windows loads in a minute. My brother's gonna stay w/ my old one ;) Poor him. :D

I don't think it should matter how much time it takes to boot up

If you're impatient it matters a lot... take me for instance...

Mine takes 2 minutes to start up right now and there's an os start up list and it thinks Windows 98 is installed and it asks me to choose it or XP.

1.) You have an AMD Athlon XP 3200+ which is one of the fastest 32-bit processers.
2.) You run a much faster OS than atleast 90% of the members here.

Back on topic... My computer takes 40 seconds to boot up because it has to test 1GB of memory, and usually, the better the hardware, the longer it takes to get it running.

Computer: About a minute (320gb doesnt load too fast)
Laptop: 366MHz, takes about 5 minutes to boot. Running XP Pro, also I dropped it awhile ago and hasnt worked the same since  - Should probably get Win2000 Pro for it.
