Howdy All,

Stealing the microphone for a minute, I'd like to wish The Big Cheese (aka cmonkey) a very happy 21st birthday.

That is all.

Howdy Folks-
USB was down for a couple hours this morning due to some major badness in our datacenter. Heres the memo as sent out by the staff:
Quote
As of 1/2/2007 2:51:59 PM EST: UPDATED: The MA facility is experiencing a complete outage. We have updated information confirming that both the primary and secondary redundant fiber paths went down. The primary fiber uplink went down earlier this weekend, and before engineers could restore it to full operation, the secondary fiber link went down this morning at about 8:12 AM EST. Savvis does have engineers working on the issue with the highest priority. This is affecting ALL customers of Savvis in their Boston 1 and Boston 2 datacenters.
Heres hoping it doesn't happen again.

Walking along during my everyday commute, I stumbled upon something unusual. I got a tingling in my toes, something was up. I searched high and low, but could not come upon the cause of my heighted awareness. Then, I turned, and my eyes gazed upon the source of this unexpected event.
It was him, the man, his holiness. It was just like I had immagined; he was big, yellow, and resembled a rather large sponge. He smiled in my general direction, waving his big stick like arms. It was like a mystical spotlight from above had highlighted his presence, there was a chorus of singers doing the trademark "aaaaaah-aaaaaah" in the background. I was truly in heaven. I had finally met SpongeBob.
We sat down and chatted for a bit about old times, he mentioned that his TV show was still going strong. I smiled, and told him I was a bit hungry, and was going for lunch. We shook hands, smiled for a photo and then parted ways.
Heres that photo so you can share in the joy:

So, many moons from now, you might think about going to college. 1f y0u tRy 'n typ3 l1k3 th15, You will not get ANY respect from anyone worth talking to. I promise.

Save yourself the trouble, and try and form sentences that make sense to everyone, not just people who learned english on AOL or MySpace.

Thanks.

So, by now, you all probably think the UnitedSpongebob.com lives in the back of a truck that happens to be driving all over the US. While that sounds cool, its not actually true- The server has changed 6 times in 5 years, not too bad considering a bunch of kids started the whole thing.
Yesterday and todays fun happenings were caused by a friendly neighborhood network card, that decided it needed a lunch break that it didnt get. Oh well :)

Edit by Cmonkey:  Also, happy 19th birthday to forum moderator Vulture.

Hey There.
We upgraded the multimedia section, by including the Divx Player in the browser window. Currently the plugin works 100% on Windows, while MacOSX and Linux are in development. We've left the links to download the movie for those of you who cannot currently use the plugin.
To get the plugin, go to http://download.divx.com/BrowserPlugInBeta2/download.html
To check out the improved Multimedia section, go to http://www.unitedspongebob.com/?page=multimedia

That was a good server switch, in my opinion. Here's why:
no crazy boston driving,
no almost breaking down of the Blue Bubble,
no near-death experiences with a Blue Bubble guest driver,
no getting lost at any points during the trip,
no smashing of the USB cable,
no forgetting of the power cable,
no lack of rack screws,
no rain inside the server,
no "immediately taking a right down a side road" instead of "taking a left at next intersection", and
no making the rest of the world wait patiently for the return of Spongezone.

And we even got hot chocolate!
