Does anyone here believe that the bible is not meant to be taken 100% literally, that it is meant to be interpreted in the way you interpret it (such as use of metaphors, etc)? I strongly believe this and was wondering if anyone else believes the same.

It's interpreted in many different ways and I think God intended it to be that way... after all, it wouldn't take so long to study if it was easy to read, would it?

Everybody has their own way of interpreting it. I believe every word in there, though.

You know that part in the Bible where Jesus is, like, pushing all those tables over?

I think that should have been a movie instead.

I only believe in one way of interpreting it:  You ask God to show you and He does.  It's not that difficult of a book, and yes, I believe every word of it.

I interpret it more as a storybook that gives suggestions on a moral way to live out life.

Ditto, however, I wouldn't read it to my children...I would give them the option to read it themselves if they WANTED to, afterall, there is some pretty strange things in there that wouldn't be suitible for children....like murder and romance....but I interpret it as just a simple story.
Cloud Killed Aerith! Sephiroth knocked her out and then Cloud drowned her!!!

I agree. Except for Revelations though. That book wasn't meant to be fully understood.

To me, the Bible is little more than a collection of great stories, a lot of which are very dark and twisted. I remember sitting down and reading the first few pages of the Bible, and once I got past God creating Earth, the Heavens, Adam and Eve, and all that, it got pretty crazy. A guy kills his brother, two girls have sex with their dad while he's sleeping, and God causes lotsa destruction. There's some good stuff in there. I am not, however, a believer. In my view, it's good stories, but that's it. I'm aware of the story of Jesus the man, and that I do believe because it's actual history, but that's about it.
