It's as much science as evolution, but that's not much.  I wouldn't say it was necessarily religion though, since many people believe in Intelligent Design, but not in any particular god.

Religion in the most broadest sense from the neo-pagans of today to the worshippers of the greek gods to whatever the cavemen worshipped. :p

When up there it says religion, it means any and all, even if its just one person who worships the magical potato elf or the great masses of christianity.

"Our strategy has been to change the subject a bit so that we can get the issue of intelligent design, which really means the reality of God, before the academic world and into the schools."

"We are taking an intuition most people have (the belief in God) and making it a scientific and academic enterprise. We are removing the most important cultural roadblock to accepting the role of God as creator."

You know who said that? This man who is the father of the Intelligent Design movement and one of the highest ranking members of the Discovery Institute. The very goal of ID is to bring God into the classroom. He has made it very clear that this is about getting  his god, the christian God, into the science room and teaching creation as fact. This is why we can not allow it to be brought in. Next thing you know the Flat Earth Society will be demanind all the globes come with warning stickers that the earth may not realy be a sphere. Next we can start teaching that the Jews and Muslims are heathens and that hell was designed for sinners like them. It is religion masquerading as science, and it has no place in the classroom.
