Editing the Bible...
« on: January 04, 2007, 03:30:03 pm »
I asked myself this question after I looked at this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jefferson_Bible

So...whatcha think? I see his reasoning behind wanting to edit the Bible....but I'm not sure of anything past that...

I dont think there is a need to edit the bible unless you're starting a new religion.

I am pretty sure he isn't talking about The original saying "The Rock White" and them changing it to "the White Rock." Not that there are any white rocks in the bible, just an example.

Of course you can edit it. Remember this, though: As soon as it is edited, it is no longer the Bible.

The bible is like any other story book... as long as whomever edits it has copyright privliges and has permission why not? And most people have a tendency to go by the Old Testiment and misinterperate a lot of thing in the bible. Thus it creates crazed religious fanatics *cough MSP cough* that become obsessed with it and see it as this great godly book to live by... if things in the old testement would have never changed we would all be going to hell... simple as that.

But yes, I believe, if people have the proper authority I see no wrong in editing it. If you honestly believe it has NEVER been edited in 2,000 years, you are a complete dumbass.

Yea the Old Testement law was deemed null in the New Testement. So, that is why we don't kill people for breaking it anymore.

Editing the Bible isn't even aquestion, you can't edit the text of your religion.
