Turning LCD monitor into TV
« on: October 02, 2007, 05:48:15 pm »
I want to buy a new computer monitor and use it as a TV. Note, I do not want to use the computer, only the monitor.

How do I do that?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815260010

I found that, does it work without the computer? How would I go about setting it up?

I would like it to support at least cable and the ability to use my Wii on it.

I don't need a DVD player (I can just use my PC for that)

It needs support for headphones (so, an external speaker port pretty much)

Quote from: newegg system requirements
System Requirements:

No specific PC system required
LCD, CRT, Plasma or projectors with VGA or Component Video input
Video input device (e.g. VCR, V8, DVD player, TV game console etc.)

sounds like it's exactly what you need :)

if you chose to, you could hook a computer up to it as well :)

there's even a built-in speaker if you wanna have a boomin center channel!!!! /sarcasm :P

Okay, a few things.

1.) Newegg says accessories are not included, but pictured. What does this mean? Is the remote an accessory? The cables? It says you'll only get the "OEM Barebone?"

2.) Will I be able to hook up my headphones?

3.) It has the ports for Wii or Gamecube?

4.) Max monitor size and resolution?

I decided to use an old monitor.

If I buy a TV, it'll cost more (for a decent quality one)

Plus, I'd like to rotate it with ease (its going on a dressed so it needs to be as flat as possible, ie LCD monitor)

Ok.

It says it runs on  Analog...isn't the FCC putting a stop on analog next year?
