Radiohead "In Rainbows"

http://www.stereogum.com/archives/new-radiohead-album-in-rainbows-out-october-10th.html#more

I knew Radiohead were coming out with a new album, but I had no idea that they would inform the public about it TEN DAYS before its release! This is pretty awesome.

Well, it's digitally released in ten days. What I'm getting from the link is that the actual CD is being released in early December.

Oh, and one last thing. You can choose how much you pay for it. It's a donation I do suggest you either make a decent donation, or plan to buy the CD when it's released later this year. Pleases and thank yous to Radiohead.

I heard about this. I don't think I've ever been more excited about a CD release.
First, I'm getting the download in ten days and then I'm pre-ordering the discbox, cos it has an extra CD with it. AND THE ALBUM ON VINYL.  ^_^
Gonna cost a fair bit but it's gonna be woooorth it.

Amazing, I can't wait.  I hope the digital download is in FLAC (or at least a high bitrate of something else) and has no DRM, because I'm not sure I'm willing to pay ~$80 for an album, even if it is Radiohead.

I'm really excited for this. I think I just might be crazy enough to buy the entire discbox.

Now, how the MCR thread was able to reach four pages while this is stuck at three comments is beyond my comprehension.

Heh, yea, that is a little sad.  Though, half of the MCR thread was people talking about how terrible they are.

Edit:  Never mind, I guess that was just me hoping that that many people didn't like MCR more than Radiohead.  Maybe we have to wait until the album is actually out.

Because people don't appreciate bands that work harder to make better music without getting as much recognition?

15 Step + All I Need + Videotape = Best In Rainbows songs.

Not the best they've done, but it is still rather good. I know that it's better then Amnesiac anyway. I still find it hard to believe that after 4 years, all they put together is 10 songs and 42 minutes worth of music...

... though the discbox has a bonus disc so stfu me!  ^_^

And a few of the songs are old material too.  But it's still great.  Not quite up to OK Computer standards, but In Rainbows has been growing on me.  I'm enjoying it more every time I listen to it.

I'd have to say my favorites are "Faust Arp" and "Jigsaw Falling Into Place".

There are some that are a little bland for me. "All I Need" and "House of Cards" aren't that great, but I'm sure they'll grow on me, a la "Lucky". I hear "Videotape" was much better live.

I used to love Radiohead...now I find them to be pretentious and boring for the most part (since the first SJP account I have been fully converted into a metalhead btw), but they do have some songs I like a lot, like I will always love "High & Dry", which was the first song I ever learned to play on guitar and is just an awesome song all around.

I hate "High and Dry". It's too... mediocre. Radiohead has done so much better than that.

After many listens, I've decided In Rainbows is second on my list for the year, only after Neon Bible.

They're like Radiohead.
They change a lot from album to album... Listen to The Bends and move on from there.

and they are good.

I just bought this a few weeks ago. I'm glad they didn't continue with "Hail to the thief". This sounds more like "KID A" and Amniesac". It's pretty good. "House of cards" is awesome.

I missed them this year... I also missed R.E.M., The National and Modest Mouse ALL IN ONE NIGHT IN ONE PLACE... and I missed my yearly Flaming Lips concert, which I've been doing since 2003...

Sigh.

Anyway, "In Rainbows" is great. My favorite album is still "The Bends", and I actually like "High and Dry", even though it sounds like something common you'd hear on "Scrubs". Like... "How to Save a Life", or something. Kinda schmaltzy. Then again, "Fake Plastic Trees" is my favorite Radiohead song... but that's not schmaltz. It's absolute poetry.

My favorite thing about Radiohead is that most of their songs build up to a climactic moment. And if you were to start playing the song at that climactic moment, it would seems like complete chaos. In "Fake Plastic Trees", it's when the drumming comes in, right before the line "She looks like the real thing, she tastes like the real thing...", which is why I think I love the line so much.

As for In Rainbows, "15 Step" has to be one of my top five, if not three, Radiohead songs.

I saw them last night... incredible.

The played all of In Rainbows. It's amazing that, ten years after releasing what's considered their greatest work, they release something that's arguably just as good.

I really want them to come back in a year, at least.

Kid A is better than Amnesiac though. But even Amnesiac is really, really great.

Every time someone says "Creep" is their favorite Radiohead song 2 babies die, an Angel falls from Heaven and goes to hell, God weeps, and I smack someone.

I've seen this happen way too many times.

It would be a good song by any other band, but it's just mediocre when compared to their other stuff.
