Parts were clever (the video game take-off was cool), but way too much pathetic singing and a dumb plot killed it. 4/10

It was pretty good. I'd say 7 or 8/10

You can tell the writers/producers put their full energy into this one. I confess to having been a bit nervous when I saw who the writers were....

Too much singing (the songs themselves weren't necessarily bad, just too much of it.) The plot was nothing super inspired. Too much Patchy.

But there were a lot of good scenes. The video game sequence was indeed very clever. The scene when SB and Patrick are with the bubble was great. So we end up with a pretty good episode, not an outstanding one.

7.5/10 rounded to 8/10 for davd bowie's nice acting. i proved alright, but the singing...ugh..

I dunno, parts of it were okay, but some of it (other than the singing) just didn't sit well with me. I think it would have been better if they would have just centered it around SpongeBob and Patrick, instead of sucking in all the other main characters who just sort of seemed to be conveniently located at the right place at the right time. I also think they should have done away with the whole "Plankton unlocks a whole room of weapons and tries to kill everyone" plot, which, to be quite frank, seems like something I would've written when I was like ten. I will give it that some of the song segments were kind of cool, but more because of the animation than because of the singing.

The animation was good, especially the part when the step inside the bus, which was made in 3D. Also, Mr. Krab's money scene, the videogame scene, etc. were well-animated. But it's on again now, and there's Patchy scenes in it, which ruinrs the whole point of the cartoon... to be completely animated.

In my opinion, this was ONE OF THE WORST EPISODES OF ALL TIME! All the advertisements claimed that the main plot involved Patrick popping the bubble, including the back of the DVD. But that didn't happen until the very end! Apparently Viacom KNEW that this was a pointless episode, and they wanted to make the plot sound interesting and epic. This was NOT worthy of a TV movie, it wasn't even worthy of a ten minute episode! Atlantis Squarepantis isn't even a good NAME! The songs were good, and I mean that they sounded nice, not that they had good writing. The advertisements ruined the ending, the plot wasn't exciting and adventurous like a movie should be, and it wasn't well-written at all. I'd rather have Where's Gary A.K.A Have You Seen This Snail been boosted up to the length of an hour.

List of things about this movie that were good:
The songs
The 3D backgrounds on the bus
The animation in the video game scene

List of things that were bad:
THE HORRIBLE WRITING!
The fact that the advertisements ruined the ending.
The plot wasn't epic/adventurous/exciting

Three good things, three bad things. The bad things are so bad, however, that they ruin the good things. Atlantis Squarepantis gets 1/10 in my book.

Mr. Krabs' song was the best part of the whole episode. He has always been my favorite character.

It was an hour long special type deal... I saw the part about where the bus could only be powered with song... I changed the channel right there and then. I didn't need to watch the rest of it. It was nothing more than a poorly executed Marketing ploy.

Bleh... The theatrical movie was like 142 times better than this.

Another thing that seemed kind of dumb about it was the fact that it revolved completely around singing, and yet special guest star David Bowie, famous mainly for his career as a rock musician, had no musical role in it whatsoever. I like SpongeBob and all, but to be honest Bowie has a much better singing voice.

I saw the Spongebob Movie the first day it was in theatres... December 1 of 2004 I believe it was. After the Spongebob Movie, it went downhill somewhat... Spongebob is still good, but as you can tell, the animation from season 1 compared to now is drastically different. In the first season it looks more... what is the word... professional. Err, well, it just looks better compared to now. It looks like they actually took the time on Season 1 eps. Now it's like they are just rushed through. I must say, I watched 'The Battle Of Bikini Bottom' the other night... possibly the worst episode I have seen of Spongebob so far.

first of all, battle of bikini bottom is absolutly disgusting and i, a girl who sadly is head over heels in love with spongebob, hated it. dispised it.

and second of all, atlantis squarepantis wasnt all that bad. i mean it really wasn't wat I expected at all, but it wasnt so bad thast id have to turn it off. i liked lord royal highness escepcially when he tripped and fell dwon the stairs at the beginning. Plankton and his "giant ice-cream maker" was really funny. Plus, i agree with those who said that there was way too much singing. And patchy--? disgusting. completely ruined the episode for me. uck. but overall, i wasnt too thrilled about it, but i wasnt throwing up because of its poor quality. I do think that they could have done much much better with it.
