Movies this year...
« on: June 21, 2008, 10:57:19 am »
So I figure we can use a thread to discuss the movies we've seen this year. I will tell you that I spend a lot of my time at local film festivals and traveling the state for stuff I think I may wanna see, and that's actually how I saw most of the movies in my top category. It's been a good year so far.

P.S. No I don't see EVERYTHING. If I have a slight interest in something, or if someone invites me to something, I'll see it. Yes, there's a lot of crap, but ya never now... the worst movies can have slightly redeeming qualities. If nothing else, I know that I've gotten that out of the way and if the opportunity should arise to see it again, I know I can back out. Plus I'm justified in hating on it.

The movies you've listed as below average...

Are those the ones you're invited to go see?

The only movies I remember seeing this year are the ones I've seen this month.
I'm no help.

Actually, yeah, most of the ones under Average or Bad I was taken to by other people. Sadly, all four under Terrible I saw voluntarily, only one of which I walked in knowing I would hate it, that being "Postal". The other three I didn't have any sort of high hopes for, but those low expectations were instantly diminished worse than I could have imagined.

HAHA, the plotline for Teeth sounds brilliant.

What did I see this year? Hmm...

I saw The Other Boleyn Girl with my mom cause she really wanted to go... and I saw Prince Caspian. The Other Boleyn Girl was ok, and I really like Prince Caspian.  I think it was already 08 when I saw Juno too, which I loved.

I don't go to the movies as much anymore because I've been seeing quite a few Broadway shows on tour, and money is kinda tight for me.

I saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall last night and it was cute! Kind of chick-flicky, but it was hilarious at the same time. Good movie.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWW.
It was horrible!! I am very disappointed in you. I hate Christina Ricci.

The Love Guru was awful.. I really thought I would like it. It was funny when he sang, "More Than Words" but thats the only laugh I got out of it. Jessica Alba was a horrible choice for that movie.

Haha, someone just told me about Teeth yesterday, I lol'd so hard. I just have to see it now.

So did I! It really made me feel like a kid again. It was great.

Yeah, it follows a pretty typical formula, but I really enjoy it. And everything just feels natural and real... the scene where she tells him why it is she broke up with him is probably the best-written scene in the movie and adds so many layers onto both of them.

the movie Teeth is actually sitting RIGHT next to me. My friend bought it. I found it really boring for the most of it. and a bit...gory for some parts. but other than that, it was alright...

The Happening was...well, it's fun to tell people because it's so messed up. I watched it with a friend and we both had to use the bathroom halfway through, so we just left after the math teacher slit his wrisits with glass...

Camp Rock...kay, ruined by the fake singing, but saved by Joe Jonas and the fact that Demi Lovato could actually sing (in the scenes that weren't fake)
