Closing Avast
« on: July 16, 2008, 05:01:48 pm »
Seriously. With Photoshop + Firefox + IM + Music open, everything works fine but with Avast running (not scanning just running) everything lags. How can I close this thing?

Durrr go to the task manager and click on processes and kill the avast process.

Im sure theres a better way but thats my suggestion
There is no such thing as peace and there never will be. Peace is a delusion believed by the weak. Gandhi said : "An eye of an eye would leave the whole world blind". So be it because only a blind world can experience the peace that it deserves. But there in lay the sick irony. Who will be able to see this peace? The human species is at war. The enemy walks among us nearly invisible. Only those with true discernment can see them. But only one with discernment and vision can show them to others

ummmm.....don't switch to AVG its a piece of crap?

if you need to temp disable avast right click the icon and hit stop on access protection, and that shuts down everything except the tray icon, which shouldn't be affecting your system.

i'd love to bet that there is much more junk running in the background and the problem isn't avast :P

Actually no :P I keep my process pretty empty. As empty as possible. And thanks, I'll do that.

i run avast, zone alarm, firefox, trillian, netmeter, transwin, automatic wallpaper changer, refreshlock, my wireless card's wireless manager, and Steam, and I can play 3d games like TF2 with no issues due to slowdown. and i have 1 gig of ram.

try what i said, and if you don't see a change, then it isn't avast. and even if you do see a change, it merely means you need to change your avast settings and make them better.
