They just released firmware updates to do ogg and flac on their current line.  I don't think they have a 32gb model yet, just 16gb + microsdhc.

It seems like everybody I know who has had an iPod had it break about a year after getting it. I've considered getting one, but fear it will die on me. Is this really as common as it seems?

Nah. I know a guy who had an iPod for like 3 years and i've seen him drop it into a puddle of rain and it still working.
Mine just used to be my sister's.
So she broke it somehow.
Cause she fails...

i've had a used shuffle for almost three years with no problems, and a nano for around two, also with no problems. they're made for durability, assuming you don't act crazy. c'mon guys... it's not a walkman!

that joke was funnier in my head. hmm...

Haha. My sister has actually had a $30 walkman for like...at least 8 or 9 years. Works fine (occasional skipping now)
