You don't seem to know I don't own a mac, and never will. My computer is a custom-PC.
Why did you say: "This one" in that post a couple up?

Have you USED a Mac before?

Yes. I used them all through elementary and middle school. And I hate them. With a passion.

Then you only used old ones. And you got a CUSTOM PC! That's not a fair comparsion. By far. The new ones are like...... BETTER!

Oh yea, i forgot about the legal thing...  Ah well, a license of Windows XP Pro can't cost that much, can it?  Anyway, for a workstation, a dual FX-53 with with a gig of low latency pc3200, a 9800xt, a 74gb 10,000rpm drive for the OS, a 250gig for storage, and all the other shiz found in a comp can be bought for ~$3000.
A custom computer is great, but it's gotta have a good OS.

Windows XP Pro licence, $136.
For those of you with the crazy opinions that Apple has insane prices, a license for Mac OS X is $7 less.

BOTH Microsoft and Apple are losing their edge. Linux is rising, fast. They've already dominated the server market. It's only a matter of time until they take over the PC market.
Microsoft may be, but Apple has only been getting better over the past few years, and there's no reason for that to not continue.  And Linux dominating the PC market doesn't affect us.

Schools buy the cheapest and best computers for educational purposes.  So obviously, Macs aren't over priced and they're not just good for personal use.  People using Macs at schools get better grades and learn a lot more about what they can do with the right computer.  And I'm assuming elementary school for you goes back at least 5 years or so.  Have you noticed they've gotten way better since then?

So what? I still paid a lot less than 1,000 for mine. A lot of PCs are custom, my dad builds them.

They're worth it.

You're not comparing correctly.

They may be worth it, but I'm still not going to spend 2 grand on a computer, when I can get one for a lot cheaper.

One that's not as good for alot cheaper.

Macs seem to keep a steady system flow, outrunning Windows-compatible systems.

Not really. Mine was cheap, and can outperform a lot of macs. Here's a mac I found for 1,800.

$1,799.00

17-inch widescreen LCD ( I have 19" CRT)
1.25GHz PowerPC G4 ( I have AMD 1.8)
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra ( I have ATI Radeon 9200)
64MB DDR video memory ( I have 128)
256MB DDR333 SDRAM ( i have 512)
80GB Ultra ATA hard drive ( I have 80)
SuperDrive
Apple Pro Speakers ( I dont use speakers that much)
AirPort Extreme Ready (dont know what this is)
Bluetooth Option (dont have anything to use this)

You can get a Mac for $999.00 that includes:
1.25GHz PowerPC G4
256MB DDR333 SDRAM
80GB Ultra ATA drive
SuperDrive

... that's not $2000, just to let you know.

You can get a PC for $999 including a 19" monitor that will easily outperform that.  In fact, I'm helping my friend Vulture build a ~$800 gaming computer right now.

OS X isn't as secure as you might think.

I already read that, but big deal.  Nothing's perfect.  A few security holes is a lot better than a whole OS full of them.
