I could write my own bible, form my own country, isolate it from the world, feed people my ideas and scripture from the day they are born, and they would grow up believing entirely in it, willing to give thier lives for something that doesn't exist. If they became unisolated, they would claim anyone who did not follow thier religion was a blasphemer and would be going to ::Dolphin Noise::, or would be reincarnated as a toad, or whatever utterly rediculous fate my bible listed for people who did not put thier "faith" into it. To me, religion is bogus. There are two reasons for religion. The first is to explain the unexplainable. Since the beginning of civilization, people have been surrounded by the unknown. As they were unable to explain thier surroundings, they believed that some "supernatural" force controlled it. That is why the first gods were gods of fire, wind, food, the ocean, the moon, etc. As each mystery was solved, gods became obsolete. Science is the opposite of religion. Religion depends on faith, science depends on facts. faith. facts. faith. facts. faith. facts. which to believe? Well, there are only a few unsolved mysteries left. Life and death. How does life begin, what makes something alive, can life be created? What happens when life ends? Those are questions that science may never be able to solve. Notice, I did not deny the existance of a god figure in the universe. I have no way of proving that one exists or does not exist. I simply belive that religion is fake. The second use of religion is control. Just as Niccolo Machiavelli wrote, a ruler should use religion as a tool to unite his people and control them. Religion controls all aspects of life. Rulers control religion. Therefore, a ruler can control his people by forcing relgion onto them. Well, I'm done.
