Yes, the long awaited 2004 NFL season is finally here (HALLELUJAH!), and not a moment too soon. The first game of the season is tonight as the Indianapolis Colts tries to revenge their AFC Championship loss to the eventual Super Bowl champions New England Patriots. And then on Sunday, the season really gets underway, with a full slate of action.
Of course, though, the most anticipated game of the week is tonight. Indianapolis gets to start off their 2004 campaign against the team that ended their 2003 one. Peyton Manning played horrible in the 21-14 loss, throwing 4 interceptions. Of course, the Colts need to have Manning sharp if they want to win the game.
But the New England Patriots have a lot going for them. They won the Super Bowl for the second time in three years, they haven't lost since September of last year, and they added RB Corey Dillon over the offseason. Oh, and they still have Tom Brady and the best coach in the league in Bill Belichick. And with the game played at Gillete Stadium, that just gives another advantage to the Patriots.
My prediction for tonight's game: New England 23, Indianapolis 13. I'll probably be totally wrong, but oh well.
