Topic: Assault Weapons Ban

The Assault Weapons Ban expired this past Monday making it legal to buy previously banned weapons. I think it should have been extended for the safety of the US. Others say that people need to protect themselves with such weapons. Nobody made an effort to extend it and there was no pressure from Bush. Since he let it expire, he gets the NRA's votes.

I think that now that Americans can have access to all those weapons, Canadians are beat.  All those people who want those guns, just wait to some psycho goes and kills a bunch of people. Again. AGAIN! Cuz it happens. *goes back to her hippie group*

Nobody needs an assault weapon for protection.  A handgun or rifle is more than enough.

There is no need for assault weapons, a handgun is good. All you need a gun for is protection.

If they had to set the ban in place, it should obviously be extended. There are plenty of other types of guns out there you can use for recreational purposes, or to defend yourself. I'm pretty sure they banned these types for a reason, not just to be mean.

Yes, the ban should have been extended. Not extending this ban was the dumbest thing Bush has done during his presidency. I would like to hear a reason why the the ban was left to expire, and why nothing is being done to reinstate it

Extended. I think it needs to be extended. All you need is a little hand gun for protection, or if necciary a rifle or shotgun. This really needs to be extended. I wobnder how many letters asking to ban it have been sent to the white house.....a day.

A handgun can kill you with one shot too. The weapons that should be banned are ones that shoot multiple bullets really fast,. that shoot something other than bullets (or potato XD), and sniper rifles. The hunters can vent for all I care, but sniper rifles should be banned along with the other assult weapons

Because Bush wants the NRA's (National Rifle Association) support. He says he supports the ban, but made no effort to extend it.

Blame it on Congress, for forgetting it all.

Congress didn't forget. They just didn't want to. Bush probably would have left it to run out if it was brought up, though Congress should have at least mentioned it.
