Darn You Computer!
« on: December 14, 2004, 01:29:45 pm »
Okay... I come home from school, and look at my hard drive while I'm listening to some music. I'm shocked when I find that the amount of free space I have is 5.54 gig left. Last night as I finished downloading some music I looked and I had around 95 gig left. I haven't downloaded anything since, and my family hasn't used the computer to screw it up. I've run Ad-Aware and got rid of the few spyware. Its friggin crazy. I'm probably going to end up contacting Compaq about it later on today. But please help if you know how. (Speak to me in idiot terms if you can.)

It's probably just a bug in Windows. Compaq can help you with hardware problems, but I'd think it was Windows.

Well I was originally supposed to have a 120 gig hard drive. But it ended up being 107 gig. Someone told me though that was just formatting or something. They probably won't tell me to wipe my hard drive will they?

EDIT: In the case that it is a Windows problem, do I contact Microsoft?

1. I think it's formatting, so yeah. But you still do have 95GB.

2. I guess, but don't come crying to me when they charge you 30 dollars, look into it, say that they can't find the problem, and give you no refunds. You can also just look for a Windows help forum.

Oh don't worry. I'll find other excuses to cry too. :P

But since it's probably just an error, when I do use up the "last" 5 gig, will I go into negative GBs?

You never get the amount of gb that you want. I was supposed to have 80 but I wound up with 72...how screwed up is that?

I think all you needed to do is restart

My brother is supposed to have 40GB on his HP but it only shows 35GB. Lucky for me I have a custom and have the amount of GB I should have.

Alrighty. I called Compaq support (The french robot that I talked to was hilarious.), and he said to run disc cleanup(Which I've done already -_-) and defragmenter. I'm doing that now. When it first popped up, I got an error that said something to the effect of "You don't have enough hard drive space to defragment. You need at least 15%." But Mr. Robot was like "Uh....... Click yes anyway."  He suggested wiping the hard drive, which I don't plan on doing. But we'll see what happens after this.

That same thing just happend to somebody I know online. I don't know what they plan on doing. This whole thing sounds odd. I wonder what happend.
Mr. Krabs: Do you smell it..that smell...a kind of smelly smell...a smelly smell that smells smelly. Anchovies.
Squidward: What?
Mr. Krabs: ANCHOVIES!
Anchovies: MEEP, MEEP, MEEP.

I probably won't be on here too much being in college and all. I will try to pop on every once in a while though to share my thoughts.
