And they have to support PHP.

I think she uses freewebservers. And, they most likely do not support MySQL or PHP.

If they did, to transfer your forums from your local hard drive to your webspace you need an FTP client. I don't recommend developing the forums locally then uploading & changing dbase info--just a pain. Do it over the webspcae. But you need to be able to use FTP or a file transfer client that let's you chmod (change permission settings for files and folders) and choose binary or ascii transfer mode went uploading (use Leap FTP it does all that automatically--especially if your webhost has default permissions & it lets you change them within the program).

I don't think any free service gives you all those options. So most likely you can't.

There are many free hosts that support PHP and FTP, but I've never seen one that does mysql... but, there are forum hosts out there that will host a forum for free.

Yeah, I forgot that Invision Board has a free hosting service for forums as does Lycos (many IB boards are on it).

here's the link to IB' free boards: invision Free

You are most welcomed. Too bad they don't let you mod them much. Can you choose different skins--like colors for your forum?
