I don't think the number of ads is unreasonable.  There is a skyscraper ad in the sidebar, and the google ad in the sub-banner.  The second google ads that are left on some of the old pages are being removed manually.  The ads aren't in the content area.

Meh, still don't think that number of ads is unreasonable.  Look at most sites out there.  Chances are, they'll have more ads.  In fact, of the sites I have bookmarked and visit daily, Pocketgamers, Teamxbox, Slashdot, Pocketpcthoughts, and Overclockers, only Slashdot has fewer ads than the SZ.

Off Topic: Iv'e Been To Overclockers!

On-Topic: I think its pretty nice, but CMonkey said that he stopped the video games page because it was rarely visited. You should edit it again because more and more people come to the site daily and may be intertested. Also the new layout is Ok, the ads are resanble, and its pretty easy to navigate.

Cool idea, a menu  you can select from to change from day to night and vice versa. Or some other way, like randomly changing from day/night when you visit the site. :P
