Actually I just heard something from them recently. I forget which state but they fought for the right to have their name on one of those "Adopt-A-Highway" things because they were arguing that the government was discriminating against them as a group.

Spongebuddie, I have a few asian friends too, and they say their parents are really strict...strict and mean could mean the same thing to some people, I guess.  

I don't think Spongebuddie or her friend are being raciest, she was just asking a question about something she'd been told...maybe his parents are mean to him?  I don't understand how that makes either of them racist.  :dry:

There are some smart pepole in this world.
How do they become smart?
Thier Parents. They pressure them, they get mad at them if they don't get a's.
They Yell at them if they get an C Which i think is bad Parenting.
There are some pepole who aren't as smart but they try. The perfect parent would be like this.

Say you had 2 kids. One who was really good and one who wasn't As good. For the good one the father/Mother would be proud of them getting an A+ A Or B. Getting A C- or Like D's Would dissapoint them. They know you can do better than that. For the not so good kid if he gets a C the father/mother is Happy. Getting B's and A's The father/mother Is Very Very Happy. Getting F's and D's Dissapoint them. They can't do as Good but Getting An F means you didn't put your effort in it. Which Would dissapoint any mother/father

Not true.  My friend *name and address withheld* gets F's and his parents don't care.  I know another kid who actually got an F in P.E.  for talking to much.  LOL!

nope its not true because i know several asians whos parents arent strict... then again i know several who are. same goes for whites, blacks, and purples. doesnt matter your race. each person has their own idea on how their children need to be raised. i doubt it has anything to do with skin color.

and at every school (or so it seems) if you dont bring your gym strip you drop marks. either you loose marks or you have to wear the schools gym strip... which smells horrible

I didn't say that it was ONLY asians that are strict, spongebuddie asked about asians, I told her what MY asian friends had told me.  I aslo have white, black and purple friends that have strict parents.  No where in my post did I say "OMG IT'S ONLY ASIANS THAT ARE STRICT", did I?  I'm not racist, I wasn't trying to be racist and I don't think that's what spongebuddie was doing either, she just asked a simple question, I don't see why you all have to freak out and start pointing fingers and calling people racist.  Take a chill pill, will you.

To be honest, I know lots of white parents who are strict. But if asians are strict it could be because of the culture. That might've been the way they were raised by their parents in their country. Each culture has different sets of rules and expectations. In Japan the families sleep in one bed. In America that would be considered absurd. No, not all Asians are 'strict'. The girl was just asking about what she heard. Now a-days everyone wants to jump to the worst case and scream 'rascist', 'homophobic', 'gay', 'queer' or whatever. Even when its not necessary. I hate the fact that American culture is so paranoid that we have to jump to defense as soon as someone even notices something like this or asks questions like this. We're so concerned with being politically correct that even saying the word 'asian' or 'black' will make someone cry 'rascist'. I've seen it happen. I'm not saying that we should go back to 1950's America by any means, but lets not get crazy over this....
