I was getting the blue screen of death alot and couldn't stand it so I just re-installed XP.

The tablet pc I use for school and work is having similarly annoying propblems with XP; a re-install may be needed for me soon also.  I have some random lock-ups (but never blue-screens) relating to memory leaks from a Windows service.  Whenever I get too fed up with it, I always find booting into Linux helps :).

I found out it was a program my brother installed called "Grabit" causing me to get bsod.
