USB: Which voice is your personal favorite to play? Sandy? Cindy? Somebody else entirely? CL: That's a tough call. I love them both for different reasons. Sandy is fun to play because she can do anything. She can go from building a rocket to the moon, to karate, to serving tea in her tree dome all in short time. I wish I had that many skills. And Cindy is fun because she is smart, but also because she is sassy. I like her little nasty streak...as far as acting goes that is. USB: Do random people you meet ever ask you if you are the voice of Sandy? CL: Not very often. Every once in awhile a fan will recognize me. More often than not people just tell me I sound/look familiar but they can't figure out why. It makes me feel mysterious. USB: What is the most difficult part of being a voice actor? Also, how did you get involved in that career? CL: The most difficult part of being an actor in any medium I think is being self employed. You have to put your business hat on to make sure your business keeps growing at the same time you are working on your craft. It's a constant challenge and adventure. USB: What do you think caused the SpongeBob phenomenon? How did a show about a rectangular sponge become the most popular Nicktoon ever? CL: The SpongeBob phenomenon is a mystery to me. I always thought our show was funny, but I certainly didn't expect it to become what it has. I think a huge part of the appeal is his innocence. Of course, our writers are amazing, and I like all the old fashioned physical humor. USB: How long do you think this SpongeBob craze will last? Is it already diminishing? CL: I hope it lasts forever. I'd love to be 80 and still sending people autographs. How fun would that be?USB: Rumor has it that after only a small appearance in the SpongeBob Movie, Sandy was written out of the show in Season 4. Is there any truth to that? Will Sandy be returning? CL: There is so much that goes into making a feature film. The studios have to agree on a story line, casting, what they think will bring in the most money etc. Sandy had a larger role initially, but due to a variety of things her role fell on the editing room floor. Maybe one day they will release the lost scenes. As for the new season, Sandy has been very busy. I'm learning all sorts of new things about her and thoroughly enjoying every bit of it. Sandy and I thank you for giving us the opportunity to set the record straight. Yee-Haaa!USB: Thank you for your time.
