This is one book that shouldn't be turned into a movie in my opinion... I can't imagine the movie being very good but I loved the book.

You people read?  Anyway, I had to read this at the begining of this [school] year, and I hated it.  But the only books I've read that I didn't hate were the Harry Potter books, books by Douglas Adams, and books by Jeff Foxworthy.  Reading is my mortal enemy.  :o

I <3 reading certain books. I read books by James Patterson (The Womens Murder Club, Alex Cross) which are about solving crimes. They're amazing.

But other books...they can go die...most of them...I wanna read Catcher and the Rye. Sounds emo...

The Giver is much deeper than some may think.

If you're looking for good mystery books, go for Agatha Christie.

I remember adoring the Giver. I think I am going to reread it. It's been awhile.

Anyone who hates reading gets moved to the Should Not Breed category. Written word is the foundation of society!

My favourite books are by Kathryn Lasky. Go Guardians of Ga'Hoole!

In case anyone cares, Jeff Bridges (who played The Dude in one of my favorite movies, The Big Lebowski) will be playing The Giver.

I hated this book. And the other books by the author. There are better dystopias. Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, 1984....etc...
