Mac Pro

Is this a new thing, for a computer to be able to have 16GB of memory?  This thing just stunned me, expensive as hell if you want all those specs though.

But has this just been released?  Anyone else seen it?

That thing has mad specs. 2,200$ is a little too much though.

I customized it to the top specs... Over $13,000.

16gb of ram and 3tb are hardly new things.  I guess its pretty out there for a "consumer electronics" company like Apple to put those kinds of specs out, but their workstation and server lineup has been well specced for a while.
Check out my website, www.spongezone.net... oh, nevermind

I think the shock was coming from the fact that it is a consumer product.

It's not really a consumer product.  It's just a product from a company that primarily deals with consumers.

But it is available to consumers for a low price (compared to some Alienware's that are only a tad cheaper with not as good specs)

both are consumer brands that are priced far too high and the power user shouldn't even bother with either of them.

I think the 16gb of RAM would be useful for that recall thing when Apple releases Leopard...

So I guess that graphic artists, and video editors are not power users then.

In order to make it through the world one needs some insanity.

I define a power user as someone who does a multitude of things on a computer that are unrelated and stress the computer, so no, I wouldn't call them power users.

They do a direct, specified task.

Alienware = kids that have lots of money and like to play games, but don't goto lan parties (cause if they did I'd beat em up lol).

Apple = someone who either is an apple freak, a dedicated "editor" of something, or someone who just doesn't want to bother with "stupid windows that crashes every 5 seconds".

Correction... Apple (well, OS X) = someone who can't figure out Linux, someone who values form over function, or someone who needs Final Cut Pro :p

I saw one in the Apple store at the mall today... Holy crap that thing was huge.  About 3 times the size of my current computer.
