the truth of Halloween
« on: August 05, 2007, 12:31:18 am »
Halloween was first celebrated by the Druids hundreds of years ago.  These people were very superstitious and believed that witches, demons and spirits of the dead roamed about on the night of October 31st.  Because the Druids were so afraid of these forces of evil, they disguised themselves as evil spirits to confuse the real evil spirits.  They also set out food offerings to the spirits.  This is where the term “trick or treat” comes from.  The Druids “tricked” or “treated” the evil spirits.

Obviously, no Christian should participate in any way in this demonic festival.

No Cmonkey.  It's fun to celebrate as a holiday but I do not approve of these Halloween Masses in the Church.  I'll put it up later.

Uhh... Christmas celebrates his birth, not his death. o_0

And he wasn't born on Christmas Day. The Christians needed a celebration in the winter months because it's such a dreary time, when people become depressed, and many die because of the weather and circumstances. So they stole the pagan celebration of the Winter Solstice (shortest day of the year, omgz no wei) and claimed that Jesus was born on Dec. 25th.

However, MSP, for once.. is right! The Pagans of Ireland and other European countries celebrated All Hallow's Eve, which was to ward off spirits. However, Popes Gregory III and IV moved All Saint's Day to November 1st, thus confusing the two different religious holidays, which would explain why Christians celebrated Hallowe'en today.
