The new episodes SUCK. NO. QUESTIONS. ASKED.
I love Vincent Waller, but he doesn't know what direction to take the show in. Every single new episode feels like a fanfiction. Spongebob isn't an adult with an eternally youthful spirit anymore. Now he's just an idiot! Patrick may have been an idiot from the start, but now he's an even bigger one! The new Patrick makes Peter Griffin look smart!
Different? Maybe. Worse? Not at all. Don't mislead the community of Spongebobians with your words!
I grew up with Spongebob Squarepants (I remember waiting excitedly each week for the new episodes to come out after school) and even now, it has not lost its luster. I absolutely love it!
There's just something completely genuine in the characters of Spongebob. Know what I'm talking about? It's something about Spongebob's ingenuous persona, Patrick's...for lack of better words stupidity, Squidward's misanthropy, Mr. Krab's greed, and Plankton's devious schemes that makes us truly appreciate Spongebob Squarepants for its art.
Take a look at the recent Season 6, Episode 7, "Giant Squidward" where Patrick praises Spongebob for being a saint, and Spongebob replies solemnly, "I know, and it is a burden I must carry." You look at that perfection of composition and tell me Spongebob has been going down hill. I dare you! I know I represent the entire Spongebob Squarepants community when I say Spongebob will live on!
