I'd say AMD Athlons and Opterons would be a lot beter than Intels.

Yeah an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.2GHz would easly own an Intel Pentium 4 at 3.6GHz

No, that is a lie and an incorrect comparison. A 3.6GHz P4 would be compared to something more in it's class, like an Athlon 64 FX-53...

And if you can't tell my attitude I voted Intel by a couple of hairs, because AMD is more for gaming, and I don't game much.

I have read that the new Intel 3.4EE is faster than the Amd FX-53, but I also read a review saying that they don't recommend Intel EE owners leaving their PC's left on overnight...something about ruining lifespan dramatically. I'd rather be stable and a tad slower (and get my money's worth), then hafta replace a part 4 years down the road when i'm in debt after coming out of college.

Yeah. When my sister had a computer friend over he said that it cuts the life of your PC down by a few weeks. My computer takes like 5 minutes to load so I leave it on. I'll deal with the problems later.

EDIT: I think he was talking in general, since my mom's computer has a AMD Athlon 3200 (Or 3000).
