No, just because people want them legalized does not mean you give in. And taking them anyways does help their case.

Drugs shouldn't be legalized because if it is, a lot of bad people will lie and say that they're sick and say they need it. Then, there will be more marijuana takers.

I believe in a pragmatic solution to the drug problem.  For one, marajuana should be legalized, controlled, and taxed by the government.  Second, the drug problem should be treated as a health issue, not a criminal issue.  Drug users should be rehabilitated, not jailed.  I'll go into more detail if anyone has  comments/questions.

Every drug user can go into rehab. Most dont and end up going to jail. Why should the goverment hold their hand? They shouldnt be babied like that...

I agree. I don't think the government should just hand things out to them.

I certainly do not think drugs should be legalized.

It should stay illegal, but more drug users should be rehabilitated.

Rehabilitation is a much better way to get off drugs than just going to jail. By throwing them in jail, they are forcing them to go 'cold turkey' which means they can't slowly get off the drugs by using a prescription drug to ease the pain. Cold turkeying it can be so painful that some choose death over the withdrawal symptoms. I actually know a few people who have gone cold turkey. One ended up caving and going back to his heroin habit. The other has stories of his best friend committing suicide because he was in jail and couldn't take the pain.

Yeah, but cops could care less about that stuff. Thats just it. If they cared it'd be too easy. You really cant have compassion in a job like that.

I just prefer over-the-counter drugs or anything my dad prescribes for me because he's a doctor. I agree with cmonkey that marijuana should be legalized

Smoking may be illegal, but drinking has the more negative side effects. It impairs one's judgement way more. Marijuana is also less harmful on the body. When eaten and not smoked, Marijuana is less harmful than most of the food we American's consume. Either way, both are potentially dangerous in their own right. It's all about using responsibly.

Yes, exactly.  Since marajuana is illegal, tobacco and alcohol should be too.  There is so much rediculous propaganda surrounding weed...

I agree with cmonkey. It's stupid to live in a country where alcohol and cigarettes are legal, but pot isn't. I say legalize them all or ban them all.

Legalize them all...  I think that's a bad idea.   'Hard drugs' lead to problems.  My definition of a hard drug is anything that is physically addicting... including nicotine.  It's a problem, because someone who otherwise wouldn't might try cocaine or heroin and end up addicted.  They'll end up killing themselves because they can't stop.
