Ok, let me state this. I am NOT responcible if you (insert favorite swear word here) up Firefox doing this. As long as you follow my EXACT directions, you should be O.K.. But remember I'm NOT responcible if you mess it up.

If your a multitasker [like me, you will LOVE this]

01. Open a new tab (Ctrl+T) and go to it, type "about:config" without the quotes in your address bar

02. Find "browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs" and double click it if it is not already in bold.

03. Find "networking.http.pipelining" and double click it if it is not already in bold.

04. Find "networking.http.pipelining.maxrequests", double click it and change the value to 100.

05. Close that tab and restart Firefox

Firefox is now able to send multiple requests to one server allowing fast page views. Also allows more than 4 pages to be loading at one time.

If you follow Snow's directions, it will work fine. You just have to COMPLETELY do what he says.

Waste of time...

Why would you wanna just boost the speed of a browser if it works for you anyways. That's completely idiotic. I'm not trying to say that snowthrower is dumb but what's worng with normal speed? People are so impatient

OMG ! I now have 4mbps and ssj this is NOT waste of time. It could be really helpful for dial up users.

Thats really great for me, considering I was getting horrible speed because of our new mac router.

Mine is 6.0 now. Before it was 5.2mbps :biggrin:

Also, just make a copy of the the Firefox folder and make the changes. Restore the folder if it messes it up.

I'll admit that not all of MS products are good but I support IE all the way. I'm just kinda pondering why on earth you would want to make a browser, that WORKS 100% correctly, faster? I think it's rather pointless but that's my opinion on it

Why should I have to use extra tools inorder to keep the browser work the way its supposed to? I have to use Spybot, Ad-Aware, and SpywareBlaster as well as the Google Toolbar on IE.

IE is MUCH slower than Firefox (sure it loads up slower, but it browses much faster). You should seriously give Firefox a try and learn its time to veer away from the E.

I shouldnt have to use external tools to keep my computer safe. My browser should be safe enough to visit websites and not have to worry about getting spyware.

I've used firefox a few times and everytime I install it...something goes wrong with my computer...so I have to re-format or fix it some other way.

IE isnt THAT slow...You dont need all those extra tools...I dont use mine but once every 2-3 weeks now...maybe even once a month

Then its something on your side. I've installed Firefox on over 100 computers and have never had a single problem.

Because I didn't know their email and I just switched back to IE so I had no problem with that

Extensions are VERY helpful. Why should you have to use 10 different
programs when it can be achieved using one?

1. FOXYTUNES - I can switch my WinAmp song right through Firefox.

2. FIREFTP - I can FTP right through Firefox without using any extra memory or hard drive space.

3. DEFEAT RIGHT CLICK - I can defeat the no right click javascript.

4. DICTIONARY.COM EXTENSION - I can find out the definition of a word I dont know without having to go to a different URL since the definition loads up in a window inside

5. SEARCH EXPANDER - I can search different search engines without having multiple toolbars (which slow down IE even more)

6. WEB DEVELOPER/COLORZILLA - I can get the RGB or HEX code of a color I might want to use in a layout or image edit

7. AD-BLOCK - I dont need external software to block pop-ups and ad banners (yes you can right click on an ad and hit "delete" and the ad is gone forever

8. BUG ME NOT - I can get login information for sites [ex. nytimes.com] without having to sign up for it

9. USER SWITCH - I can have multiple interfaces for the different people who use the computer (ex different home pages, etc). I can also Password Protect internet access.

10. VIEW SOURCE WITH - I can view the source of the page with a Web Development software instead of Notepad.

11. FLASHGOT - I can download Flash movies without knowing where the flash file is on the server

12. RSS READER - I can view RSS feeds without any additional clients

These are just a few of the USEFUL extensions. Extensions make browsing the web much easier as well as freeing your hard drive from having to download huge files to install and manage.

Ok, heres another fix to make it even faster

Go to about:config again, and right click on anything

Go to "New -> Integer"

Name the Integer "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" without the quotes and click ok, now for the value type "0"

I've just started noticing that URLs don't show up anymore. I started noticing it after I did the second speed boost. When they do show up, it'll show www.unitedspongebob.info (example) on all of my tabs. How do I fix that?

Heres some more fixes (IMPORTANT: Be sure your ISP does NOT use IPv6 to distribute IP's)

Double click "network.dns.disableIPv6" to bold it and restart Firefox.

Non-IPv6 Fix

Double click "network.http.max-connections" and set the value to 100
Double click "network.http.max-connections-per-server" and set the value to 100
Restart Firefox

Make Firefox Load Up Faster
Right click in about:config on any row, Go to New -> Boolean and call it "config.trim_on_minimize" and set the value to false. Restart Firefox.
