Firefox is 100% free.

I'm not sure about the Linux question though. I guess it depends on the size of the files.

It really depends on the mirror you use and your internet connect on to download Linux and Firefox is free.

No. Never on DSL, unless the mirror is in Russia and runs a 450 Celeron. Start off with Slax Linux, you put it in the CD drive and reboot. That simple. All the neccessary links are obtainable on Google.

Firefox is much more free than IE.

http://ubuntu.mirrors.tds.net/releases/5.0...w-live-i386.iso - Try that one and SpongeBrain no you burn it to a cd using a program like Nero then you restart your computer with the cd in it. Btw do NOT use CD-RWs for burning them and don't burn it at the max. speed, burn it at like 32x if your burner is like 40x.

Ok, then your getting Ubuntu. If you want a real challenge in installing in linux then I highly recommend Gentoo but if you a easy to use distro with good package management then Ubuntu.
